Blogger.com SEO Friendly?

I am about to setup my blog on blogger, however before I do I have to make a decision if I want to buy the domain from blogger.com and let them host it or do the ftp option.

My concern is if I buy the domain from blogger and let them host it, is everything in place for seo optimization such as a robot file or customization capabilities of the title tag?

Also, can I cloak my aff links somehow if I have blogger host my domain?

Your thoughts are appreciated...

Tony

I have very little experience with blogger, so I might not be the best person to specifically answer your question, but I do have a comment. Why not use Wordpress instead? It's very SEO friendly and if you don't have the technical skills to get it all setup, places like godaddy have hosting options that automatically install it for you. Plus, there a lot more community support available for Wordpress as opposed to Blogger.

Blogger does well in search engines. As well as any blogging platform. I have several Blogger blogs. A couple are on the 1st page of Google. Blogger is fast too. No delays in loading.

Even though Google owns Blogger.com it does not rank it higher in search engine rankings than Wordpress. In fact, Google ranks Squidoo higher than any of them.

I don't like Squidoo, but the search engines do in a big way. So I use it.

    Hope this helps, Good luck.

Blogger is seo friendly right out of the box.
Posts are word linked, not post numbers,
      along with many other things.
Pick any subject. Do that subject + blog.
I have done this in the past to make a point.
I just did that again. Chose to do a search for
christmas blog. Top 2 spots are blogspot.
The same is true for virtually any subject you pick.
Google gives much credence to blogger. But then I
have said it many times. They own it. Why woudn't they?

A free blog on blogger, done right, is gold, complete with
adsense, seo, google, from the get go.

        Hi Tony,

I found the title of your thread a little amusing. Is "Blogger.com SEO Friendly?"

It's funny because Blogger.com is owned by Google and what a hoot it would be if it wasn't search engine friendly.

Stick with Blogger. It is best for your SEO efforts. Just look at the Top few Spots for the Keywords "Make Money Online "....they are blogspots. Also, like mentioned above the Christmas Blogs.
Another thing I like is Google is continuing to make Bloger better and better. They have a vested interest in it. It is your best bet.

Oh yeah, just listen to the Pundits who say you cant make money with Blogger Blog. It still makes me laugh !!

I have a domain I have on a blogger account. It does fine. I don't think the on page SEO is fine. I think the differences would be very different between it and wordpress. You can also get themes for blogger (google it). The value is obviously going to come from your content, keywords and backlinks.
