Hey Folks - new to this group and looking for your help and advice

A chatbot uses AI to learn from responses and can engage visitors in human like conversations. It drops bounce rate, increasing dwell time and thereby impacts SEO. Basically, it makes digital experience interactive and interesting.

I'm building a chat bot widget for website/blog. But since it is a completely new technology I am getting nervous if SEO experts would accept it. I have put a lot of time and effort in it and need feed backs.

  • What is the main purposes?
I think it will work like zendesk?
  • No. They wouldn't accept it because bounce rate and dwell time do not impact SEO. That is a myth. If you are selling it for SEO purposes, you either need to lie to people that it improves their SEO or find people that actually believe that nonsense.

Either way, the sales will not be sustainable if that is the big selling point.

    • I haven't conducted an extensive test on dwell time myself. I fell for it because of some articles from SEJ. Also, It made sense for Search Engines to take it into consideration. (since they consider hundreds of factors).

Actually, that is not the selling point and I won't lie because lying is neither sustainable or scale able for me. But it does transform digital experience. Fintech and Banking industry are early adopters. Conversations are known to work better than any video, blog post, rich media ad or friendly tweet. I hope it works for content marketers. Thanks anyways.

All the bot text would have to be on the ranked page, not some browser side ajax or javascript.

    • I don't intend to build or leverage conversations like that. My focus is to deliver smarter answers and small talks. Anyways, Search Engines are pretty good at handling javascript now. I am sure Google is very good at it. In fact, SEO tools like screaming frog now has option to crawl javascript and ajax to show how SE crawls it.
  • My main concern is what are you going to do with the lead that you collect with the bot? Are you trying to integrate the bot with a helpdesk or CRM software like Freshdesk.com or Zendesk.com and then pushing the leads onto the sales team or a nurture stream?
