Structuring the content on my website

Hello folks,

Currently, I'm using only categories (and sub-categories) to structure the content on my website and for the permalink, I have "Post name ". However, when I look at authority websites in my niche majority of them has some sort of silo structure which is reflected in their URL. I just want to know if they have any type of advantage while ranking pages in google....

How do you guys think are categories enough to structure the content properly?

  • Several SEO experts and people at Google have stated that the silo structure of URLs is best for both search engines and Google. If you do this, while also being aware of your URL length and shortening when possible, your URL structure should be good.
  • Structuring of content is the important point of the website. By creating a good structure, you can use the content you've written that has attracted links from others, and use your site's structure to spread some of that "link juice" to the other pages on your site.
    When developing a new site, or restructuring an existing one, it helps to draw out your site's structure in something like Visio, or even putting it in Excel.
