Myths Of Link building

There are too many myths, I am just trying to mention few important ones for the seo user, who is really here to learn. If you are new then keep in mind these when creating links, if you are guru then let's revise these:
  • Links from directories do not have any value
  • Don't get links from sites with less authority that you
  • Getting links too fast will get you penalised
  • Don't link out too many sites
  • More than one link from same domain has no value
  • Link from non-related sites will not help
  • Reciprocal link building will always get you penalised

    Links from directories do not have any value - not true. They will be processed as other links. If you have many, it will help.

    More than one link from same domain has no value - not true. Difference between 1 link and 300 links from same domain I can see from my search stat.

      The original poster was saying that those things are true. He was listing them as myths people commonly spout off.

      So when he said

      Links from directories do not have any value
      He meant that was a myth and links from directories do have value.

    Not actually, because directories are always beneficial to get new links and to maintain link juice of a website in order to increase website rank and user oriented traffic.

    I agree with sparrow here...

    Its all about checking things. What I believe is ... to do things keeping in mind about the end users. Google wants those websites in top listings which can satisfies the users and their queries.

    As a SEO expert, don't agree with some of these listed sentences, for example "Links from directories do not have any value", depends on the directory, its DA and its field. Another "Don't get links from sites with less authority that you", depending on the sector, and if its dofollow or nofollow, also maybe has less authosity that your site, but if still well ranked in Google, it's a value.
