Hi there - due to falling visitor numbers and our website not perfoming very well compared to how it used to be, my employer would like to speak to Google about our SEO. I have been informed that you can only really speak to someone about a Google product that is for sale, but not for generally asking about SEO and why your site isn't ranking well. Would anyone know if this is the case or have a number for Google or email address?

Many thanks in advance

There is nobody at Google you can talk to about your rankings. Nobody. They will not help you to rank better.

I think your last thread identified your problem though. Whoever did the website redesign did not know what they were doing and didn't implement proper 301 redirects.

This is correct, Google will not help with SEO, because they want you to buy Adwords instead. If you are a local business you can call 1-844-442-8695 (US Only I Believe?) and they can help setting up your Google My Business account or point you in the direction of a "Google Premier Partner" to help with SEO, SEM, etc.

      That is for AdWords only.

      They won't help with SEO.

I know it won't help with SEO, that's actually the first sentence in my comment chief. It is a line for GMB (Google My Business). The AdWords help # is 866-246-6453 buddy.

I know. Your comment was useless. I was trying to be nice about it. The OP wasn't looking to discuss GMB or AdWords with Google. They wanted to talk about SEO, so what you posted was totally unrelated to the thread.

And the reason that Google won't help with SEO has nothing to do with AdWords. It's because they don't want to help with SEO. Plain and simple. First, as cbpayne pointed out, they would be flooded with calls about SEO if they took them. Second, if they start helping individual sites with SEO that can lead to people being able to work out more of how their algorithms work, which Google would prefer to keep people mostly in the dark about.

Every once in awhile, Google will answer a question about what is causing a website to not do well when someone asks about it in their Webmaster Central Forum. You can give that a shot, but don't necessarily count on getting an answer. That may be as close as you'll get to getting a direct answer from anyone at Google.

This is your best option. Google are a client of mine and we can't get SEO questions answered.

Imagine for one second if you could contact Google over this. How many zillions of sites are unhappy with their rankings in google? Probably all of them? Don't you think they all too would want to talk to Google?
