Google, And Articles That Link To An Unrelated Niche

Currently it's effective to write a niche article, say for Ezinearticles.com, and use a text link to a site that has a totally unrelated niche (to provide a backlink for the niche site).

For example, the niche site may be on digital cameras, and the article may be on Dachshunds, just because I enjoy writing about my dog. So I write about Rover, stick in a text link "black nikon digital camera" in my resource box, and voila!, I've got a good PR backlink to my site.

But knowing Google, and their rightful ongoing hunger for "relevance", I think it's a bad mistake to build up an inventory of this type of backlink.

It's just a matter of time until Google says, "Hey, that's a nice high PR site, but the article has no relevance to the link's landing page! Let's have a little dance to correct that!"

Write your articles so that they are at least somewhat relevant to the linked site, and you'll never have to worry about it.

Does this mean that if our article is not related to our target site, our site may harm? If it harm, don't you think competitor can easily attack their competitors site?

No, it's not that it harms the site.

It just wouldn't give backlink support to the site (if Google changed as I indicated).
