Getting Subdomains Indexed

I have a question about subdomains. I'm using wordpressMU to make multiple wordpress blogs, what I was wondering is if the subdomain would have any problems being indexed in Google? Also, would it get as good of a ranking since it is a subdomain like (subdomain.example.com)?

I did create a wordpress blog on a subdomain just last week and so far it has yet to be indexed, which is kinda making me wonder...

  • They are supposedly treated as different sites by Google and should therefore be indexed in the same manner and timeframe as a top level domain.

    Supposedly.

    Like you, my experience indicates that they are much harder to get indexed quickly.

    • I would beg to differ.

      Back when I first started, I was on a SERIOUS budget and couldn't even afford to purchase new domain names, so I used subdomains. I installed a blog on each of my three subdomains and submitted the RSS feeds (which included links to my subdomain) to several RSS directories then went to bed. I was ranked the next morning.

      I got all three of them to the top of Google for the keyword phrases I was going for. Granted, they were low competition, but it is possible.

      Subdomains don't exactly convey credibility though...

  • Thanks for the responses... Well I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens and how long it takes to get indexed... It seems I've bought top level domains in the past and have gotten indexed within a couple days max... For some reason this is taking longer.

    I do have the sitemap plugin, I was hoping that would have sped things up, but I guess not totally.
  • Have you tried RSS feeds? For some reason, http://www.millionrss.com/
    has always seemed to get my websites indexed faster than EZA or Digg.

    If you want fast ranking, it might be worth installing a blog just for the RSS feed... just food for thought.
  • subdomains are treated as two different websites for domains , but you can make unlimited subdomains on any domain . there will be no problem in google about indexing
