Hi, What is the general percentage number of people who access websites via direct traffic.

Direct traffic = Going to browser >> type website (.com, net, org ..ets) and hit enter to visit it.

Any help please

There is no general rule for that. It is going to be different for every website.

A site like CNN is probably not getting found nearly as much from search engines as it is just from people typing in cnn.com.

On the other hand, Wikipedia is probably almost entirely search engine traffic and very little direct traffic.

This is impossible to answer. Far to many factors involved, such as what type of site it is (Mike's CNN is a great example vs a site that sells generic rubber bands), whether it is the type of site that has a steady repeat customer base, how well the site appears in the SERPs, what its social following is, their advertising budget, etc.

Somebody, I'm sure, will come up with some random percentage here, either because they are that clueless or because they are really sarcastic.

Well depends on your site. If its a site like youtube and facebook it will generate a ton of direct traffic. But sites like forbes will have more organic traffic.

It depends on the nature of the website. Its hard to say because every vertical is different.

It is totally depend upon the website and value of the domain. There are some sites whose user access directly by wrote the url whereas some sites are accessed by search engine.

What is the percentage of direct website traffic in general?

    2(seo{2[%(16)]} - {[traffic(27)]3})| + 2 = 87

    The answer is 87.

Why on earth should it be that? Will the website get diabetes if it's 47.37%, for instance?

Useless question, made even more useless by this: Experiment Shows Up To 60% Of "Direct" Traffic Is Actually Organic Search

How do you come up with a ridiculous blanket statement like that?

Let's say I have a site that sells do it yourself termite treatments - a chemical like Termidor, for instance, that costs about $700 for an average home and lasts for at least 10 years (maybe even 20), Why on earth would I expect to have that much direct traffic? I'm not going to have repeat buyers. I'm not going to get a ton of referral business. It's a one-off website. Somebody buys once and never again.

Every website is not a t-shirt shop. We have stores that have 80% direct traffic (lots of repeat customers) and others that have less than 20% (selling very expensive one-time purchase products).

Whatever it is would be irrelevant! Because it would be generated based on factors that are unique to each website.

    Hey!
What I think is "we can't take a generalization for this"...
It all depends on the authenticity and credibility of the site which may vary person to person from an individual's point of view.
