Does it look spammy to steal a URL from another page on our site?

One of our team has written a blog and used the URL /video-marketing

We want to use this term for a main page.

We could change the URL of the blog, cancel Yoasts automatic 301 and then use the now free URL for the main page.

But are there any consequences of this?

Thanks

clearly if you move the blog from URL/video-marketing then all the currently indexed posts will likely be 404 i.e. URL/video-marketing/how-to-use-youtube would point nowhere. So you would need to set up a redirect to point to your new blog location.

If your blog is relatively new that may not be a major issue. If you have tons of good backlinks you might want to look deeper into how you make sure you retain those.

Just 301 redirect them correctly. People do it all the time.

    Maybe I'm not explaining correctly.

It won't be a 404 as the main page will be using the URL instead.

So essentially, I guess we're just swapping out the content.

Although in the backend of Wordpress we're changing the blog URL FROM /video-marketing

And creating a new page WITH /video-marketing with the now available URL.

'URL/video-marketing' won't be 404 as you will now have that as a new page.

BUT the posts that were on that URL i.e. 'URL/video-marketing/name-of-blog-post' will be 404 and will need a redirect from OLD full url to new full url. Obviously you can't just 301 'URL/video-marketing' because you will be using that for something else.

        Thanks.

/video-marketing isn't a category, so there won't ever be an instance of /video-marketing/blah-blah.

So as far as Google is concerned, it's not spammy?
