I'm about to embark on a totally unscientific experiment to determine if I can rank, and stay ranked on the first page of Google, even though MNF says SOC is solid red at +1200

The Keyword phrase:
This is a two word keyword phrase that gets 33k exact local searches per month (74k on phrase match).

The domain:
keywordphrase.ORG
(.net and .com are taken and not ranked in google top 100. Both domains appear to be parked with default parking pages with ads)

Spyfu:
Ideal numbers at spyfu > $.80-$3.21 per click with 20 active advertisers

Google Page 1 Results:
#1-2 listing is the company website.
#3-4 is Amazon listing for product
#5 Shopping Results Listings
#6 shopping.yahoo page
#7 a PR4 page that returns a 404
#8 drugstore.com PR4
#9 a PR-0 site (5k Yahoo site backlinks)
#10 a PR-0 site (12k Yahoo site backlinks)
#.org sites #mnf #soc

I'm assuming this mean 'you ain't gotta shot kid'. I don't use MNF

    #9 a PR-0 site (5k Yahoo site backlinks)
    #10 a PR-0 site (12k Yahoo site backlinks)
Would like to know more about these two... quality backlinks or junk?

It's only a matter of time before #7 disappears.

It appears that there may be some weak spots. I know nobody cares about #11+ but does the competition drop off fast?

If you could get to page 2, a little time and built up authority could be all you need to jump to page 1.

    Good luck!

Are you going for the XFactor method, man? I'm interested in how this will develop.

BTW, I see you are from Birmingham, Alabama. I am an hour west of you. Are you a fan of football? If so, who is your team, Roll Tide or War Eagle?

Hey Biggy! Roll Tide! We looked pretty good today, didn't we? Coulda had a few more TDs but for #13

Yes, using xfactor method. Already paid for itself about 6 times over. I'm split testing his template layout with one of my own. I'm finding the niche has a lot to do with CTR. I've been very impressed thus far.

I've only managed to find one dud thus far. G still says it gets 18k exact searches a month. I'm sitting at #5 for weeks and only got a handful of page views! Other than that one, my other sites are all in the money.

Good luck to you and Roll Tide!

If you are willing to put in the work then any keyword like this
    can be EXTREMELY profitable.

Speaking of very competitive keywords (and I will not mention
which one), a friend of mine wanted to rank for a single keyword
(crazy competition with millions of competing pages).

It took him 1 year of backlinking every day.

He now sells thousand(S) of dollars worth of product due
to hitting the #1 spot (every day).

Thanks for the encouragement John. Can't say enough about your willingness to teach what you've learned.

I haven't shared this with you, but I think you can relate. Ever since I started consistently hitting $15-20 a day, I really began anticipating my morning adsense report scan. This is an extremely *fun* business to be in. And your plan makes it all work remarkably well.

My biggest challenge is holding off on adding new sites, when I know I need to spend more time backlinking my existing ones. Right now though, this whole process is so much fun, the part I enjoy immensely is uncovering a new niche and deploying "the system" out on that niche. Most of my niches are on near autopilot, especially since a few of them are back on the dance floor the last few days.

It works really well, since once a site settle on page 1, I can just spend a bit of time working on those that are not, and the rest of the time uncovering the next great niche

One thing I'm looking for on this experiment, is a partner who has a great backlinking system they want to promote and who will allow me to use it, with all activity and results posted here for all to see and follow.

If anyone's interested in working with me on that, please PM me...

It is very possible. I am sitting on page 1 for a MNF SOC of 41,100, 15,200 and 14,400 and an SENuke of "Don't Waste Your Time". It is for the same URL for each of these 3 different terms. I didn't even target the term I am ranking for but I was backlinking for long tails of the terms (the long tail consisted of 3 of the high traffic terms combined). I checked Google Webmaster Tools one day and noticed I was appearing in a large percentage of the searches for the term and realised I was on page 2. A week or so later I was on page one. I then noticed the other 2.

I am now targeting (anchor text) these terms directly to try and get into the top 4. Search wise they get 22k, 41k, and 60k searches per month. My Adsense for this site now averages ~$20/day.

It is possible and quite easy if you have realistic expectations. I made the site at the end of May.

say I target "rowing machines" , it has red soc of 4510, should I buy exact domain matches , e.g rowingmachines.com and so on?. What if it's already taken?, can I buy rowingmachinesblog.com instead?. Is ranking power from exact match domain significant for targetting red soc phrase?

If exact match keyword domain is available and you do enough backlinking then you sure can beat the odds. Nothing is impossible. Just it will take some time but the end result is what matters.

Look at his bigger thread in this same sub forum and you will see that he has changed how he does things, IE: No more SOC, etc..

Sorry for the lack of responses here! Here's an update...

I've managed to get this site to #22 and it has hovered around betweeen 22-34 since launch time.

I did 2-3 articles in support of this site when it was first launched and zero efforts since.

I'm letting it age a bit to see what happens. I've got some other projects taking my attention at the moment that I'm content to let this one develop some age points...

On the strength of the performance thus far, #22 out of 400k competing sites, and due to the fact I've not done anything beyond the 5 fundamentals, (besides the articles I indicated) I'd like to think if I spent a few hours over at EZA, I'd be able to push this one into the top 10 within a few weeks.

Wow, great job When you say you did 2-3 articles in support of the site, do you mean actually on the site or at article directories etc?

The site itself only has one page of content (plus about, contact and privacy)

I have two articles at EZA where the resource box links to this site. They were both published about a month ago, before I dropped article marketing in favor of this method in which I've experienced a 40% success rate at landing on page 1 for my keyword phrase.

I hope I'm not high jacking this thread but seeing as I'm gonna be doing the same thing I thought I'd just add to this thread aswell.

            Physical Product UK market
            18100 exact searches
            MNF says RED 23400

Am using an existing domain that I havent touched for nearly a year related to that niche so no keyword in domain.

I dont think I'll crack 1st spot as thats taken by the brand website

2nd spot is Amazon with 4 rubbish backlinks. Majority have 0-1 backlinks with highest being 32 at spot 7.

            I don't see why I cant crack 2nd spot

I must have missed this. I don't know if you continued with it, but I definitely think it could be done, and maybe even within a couple of months if everything was done right. I started a brand new site almost exactly 3 months ago, a red 500 in MNF(it was actually over 1,000 back then) and a 2 word keyword phrase. As of today, I am sitting at number 11, and expect to enter the top 10 in the next couple of days Without quotes, this keyword phrase has 53 million competing pages, with quotes 285,000. The top 10 are all authority sites, with most of them page rank 3 and above. This term gets 14,800 searches per month.

I plan on posting a 'how I did it' thread when I get into the top 10, but I'll just say here that I think I could have got there even faster than I have. It's only really the last 4 weeks or so that I've really knuckled down and applied all the things I have learned(mostly here). It's all about doing the right things on a consistent basis and creating a content rich site. Like I said though, I'll post a thread when I get into that top 10 In the future, I may embark on a challenge like this thread - I feel like I have come so far that I could give some really tough niches a shot.

Hey clickbump good luck, I think you can crack the top 10 but I would focus on getting a more diverse range of backlinks ie not all from ezine,

I believe I have found the site and keyword your going after, I dont post a huge amount here but I may be able to offer some advise in the backlink strategy your after,

also if your interested in how I found your site, Its certainly competitor research at an indepth level would maybe be useful in the future,

Drop me a PM if you like,
