I used Bitly to shorten my Url but google will not recognise it. Does google accept a shortened URL because I started a free Wix website and the domain naim is very long.

What do you mean they won't recognize it?

They should follow the redirect. They should index the final page, so long as there are not a dozen redirects to get there. In a perfect world. Sure, the internet is not perfect.

Google and everyone else could give a rip about the bitly part. Maybe that's what you mean.

Some shorteners are spam, and perhaps google will not follow them.

    Maybe bitly has become spamzola.

So, why not use google's very own url shortener?

Reading this thought brings up memories of the 90's, when shorteners were the rage.
They were cool. Free wbesites came with your internet account, and places like angelfire( man that brings back some serious flashbacks) is where everyone had a webpage.

So, url shorteners were really popular.

I don't see any reasoning to use a url shortener. I create nothing that needs it.

Twitter and other places automatically shorten your url. Tweet something, then use that one.

Shorteners should not really affect anything.
