For two key terms, the google result is bottom of page two. Most of the results ahead of it seem to be subpar, and don't follow best practices.
Why are these subpar sites outranking?
website: andrewpearcebowls.com
key term 1: wooden bowls
key term 2: handmade wooden bowls

What "best practices" do you think those sites are not following?

The sites ahead hardly look subpar.

Subpar isn't the right word. I guess I was referring to what I've been told over and over, content content content. These two examples rank better but seem very limited on copy/content.
      https://hollandbowlmill.com/

My question probably should've just been...is there anything in particular that stands out on andrewpearcebowls.com that would keep it from ranking better?

Content is nowhere near as important as people try to make it out to be (as you are seeing).

The most important factor in rankings is good, relevant links, and at a glance, those sites definitely have you beat there.

Some of the OP's anchor text is
          view website
          website.
And there aren't that many, to begin with.

OP, get more backlinks. With the keywords as anchor texts. If you keep doing what you've been doing, you're gonna end up #1 for when people search for view website.
