Hello,

I'm a wordpress newbie. And I downloaded a theme for my new wordpress blog. In the description, it says SEO Optimized.

How can you tell if a Wordpress theme is SEO friendly/SEO Optimized.

Thanks

  • What they mean is that it is coded with validated css code.

Which is good but not really optimized like your thinking. You still have to optimize it for your niche. Most ppl use the all in one seo pack or something similar.
  • hey use plugins for optimising blog!
  • Most people use All in one SEO tool but if you have to optimize according to your niche and not same title tags in all the pages then you have to plugin an other SEO Tool.
  • I suggest Platinum SEO plugin and make sure you add a ping list!

  • View the source code.

If the <H1> tag is wrapped around the blog title instead of the page or post title, I'd move on.

If the bulk of the sidebar content appears in the source code before the article or post content, I'd move on.

Pretty much everything else can be taken care of with the All-In-One-SEO plugin or similar. While there are other features that are beneficial like being able to point your header graphic to an image of any name (great for being found by Google Images) instead of having to overwrite a 'header.jpg' graphic with another, in my view the way the <H1> tag is used in particular and the content above sidebar code are deciding factors.

    • Wrong. Contrary to popular belief, the <h1> tag should be used only once per page. If a page contains more than one post titles, they should get <h2>.

    • Wordpress blog has become easy to optimize because of the number of plugins and specially the SEO plugin. You can also use the permalinks option and many other to optimize your blog for the major search engines.
