Best strategy for the registration of PBN's domains (to avoid being penalized)

Hi

I am about to create a Private Blog Network, and I need some advice about the best strategy to register its domain names.

In particular, I need to know: if I buy all the domain names from the same registrar, and all at the same time, could this be a "footprint" indicating that all these domains are part of a PBN? I am going to use a WHOIS privacy guard for all of them, but I am still worried because the publicly accessible WHOIS data will show that they were registered exactly at the same time -- which may be an indication that they are probably owned by the same entity.

I am a bit paranoid about all this, since I have heard that some search engines (notably Google) are penalizing Private Blog Networks.
I'll take care of all other aspects of PBN hiding later, when I actually start setting up the network. Right now I only need to know if it is safe to register all the domains together.
What do you recommend?

Thanks

Herbie

Anything that can be used to identify that a bunch of sites are owned by the same entity is a potential footprint.

Now, if all the domains are registered at GoDaddy, probably not an issue. GoDaddy is one of the largest, if not the largest, registrars in the world. All the domains being registered there would not be that unusual.

On the flipside, if they were all registered at some small registrar that controls less than 1% of the registrar market, that would be odd.

Purchase date could be a flag as well.

I was thinking of using Namesilo (because they provide free WHOIS protection).
Is it too small a registrar?

I cannot recall having ever heard of them, so yes probably too small. I could be wrong though.

Namecheap offers free WHOIS the first year. They are pretty big.

EDIT: I have heard of Namesilo. I used their auctions a few times. Still, I believe they are fairly small.

Thanks again, I will consider using other registrars.

BTW, if using the same registar, do you think that registering the domains a few days apart will help?

Also, if a PBN does not have so many domains, would it still be considered a PBN and penalized? I am thinking of a PBN consisting of 10-15 websites, each of them hosting some actual useful content, not just a barren page with links.
Do you guys think I should be worried of being penalized by search engines in my case?

It mostly depends on how well you build the sites. I would also be careful about domain names. I have seen people register crap like JaneSmithforSenate2012.com and turn it into a site about lawn care.

That is just dumb and would never pass a manual inspection.
