Hi,
I have a website circuitstoday.com. It is showing some weird variations in SERPs. To explain given below are two cases.

1st case: It ranks for the keyword 'electronic projects' at position 12 in Google.com but doesn't rank in top 100 for a slight variation which is 'electronics projects'. Don't you think it is strange?

2nd case: For the keyword 'digital to analog converter' it ranks in position 4 in google.co.in but only at 58 in google.com

Both the above cases are just examples, the same happens for a number of other keywords as well.

I did a lot of research but couldn't find any reason as to why this is happening. Any suggestions are appreciated.
  • Link profile - it has tons of backlinks most coming from .com websites
  • Geographic targeting in Google web master tools is not enabled.

Thanks,
Charles

Best would be to wait for a while and get some high quality links linking to homepage.
I havent checked your link profile so cannot comment on that

You need to put more emphasis on whichever keyword you want to rank. Plural and singular words can sometimes have drastic differences in search results.

Those are two completely different GEO SERPs, India and US, both have different competition. Nothing unusual going on.

    @yukon is right.
Different countries would show different results and specially
if G. detects where your browse is located which is good thing
if you are targeting specific audience.

I see nothing unusual at all here as far as the second example goes. Geo location triggers that. The first one is not normal. The same exact search results show up for both things when I do a Google search for both search phrases. With most search phrases these days, Google sees the singular and plural as semantically the same. Make sure you have the page optimized around both terms and see what happens.

Yes, i think iwill give it a try. Regarding the 2nd issue i agree that competition differs for different search engine extensions, but the thing is, the ranking of my competitors remain almost the same across all extensions.

These concerns to the fact that SEO is not a rocket science. It depends from a tons of factors, which, ultimately are obscure and known only to Google.

However, geographic matters: it may due to different times of the people in the website, as an example people coming from us and india are totally different in the beahviour.

Secondly, they may have different backlinks, and different treat by google itself.

Fluctuation in algorythm, whose are a lot more than declared, have obviously an impact in different rankin position, and affecr a lot more .com sites.

Kind of hard to say since i can't see your link profile or anything. What links are you building? What anchors are you focusing on?

Normally a site is ranked within its region more then another country. So if you are in the states you will get better results in google.com rather then a another country google. Plus i don't think you want another country ranking your keyword, chances are they wont understand a thing and it makes no sense anyway.
