I just did a search for drupal membership site on Google.

Check out the results below:

So is Google in love with Forums, now? This is the first time I've seen such a result.

I honestly just read the title- as "god loves forums"... and thought to myself " but forums don't love god" ..

Then I realized that I had totally mis-read your entire title! LOL shame on me... google isnt god! LOL

well maybe google is trying to earn brownie points because of the sidewiki thing? LOL
  • This is one keyword term so a bit of a jump to think it is because it is a forum - have you checked how many links are pointing at that site? and how about keyword density for the term you searched.. (on page and off page factors) I guess that sites like digitalpoint have a reasonable PR rating as they have been around for a while so if you were to launch a new forum about say dog training then unlikely would sudden be getting top ten rankings due to it being on a forum over a different medium. Be interested to see other peoples take.

  • No, those are high authority sites. So, google loves them a lot. but there will be changes very often for sure
  • Google does really like forums. I think that is why they added the forum category to google search options. Also, I would much rather get search results with forum posts with valuable information than I would to get pages where people are trying to sell their software or training.
  • The trouble is running a forum is not scalable it is very labor intensive. You have to moderate the forum 24/7 otherwise it gets flooded with spam. If you want to use the forum model, you can only run one forum at a time and have spend most of your of time developing it.

    • Heck yeah Google loves forums - the Warrior forum in particular.

I can think of many times I've read a thread on here, then wanting to find out more about the topic I've read I'd do a search in Google, only to see the Warrior Forum thread I was just reading as the first search result.
    • I run a few forums and that's incorrect on all counts. Lets not discourage people from having a forum with these common misconceptions.
  • Mmmm..... can't resist, must profile spam
