Okay say I am making a new post. 2000+ informational posts on cars or auto business.

I choose "automotive parts industry" as my seed keyword.

My long-tail phrase is "automotive parts industry in America" or "automotive parts industry suppliers"

So when I make my

Page title, H1, Alt-tags etc.. Heck even image file names.

Do I use the seed term or Automotive Industry?

Or

Long-tail phrase? Automotive industry in America

  • If you use the same main keyword then surely every one of the 2000+ articles will be competing directly against each other for that keyword.

Google will only rank one (or two) from the same domain for that same keyword.

Logically you should have a different version (or variation/long tail/semantically related) of your industry level keyword.

If they are all on the same site Google is clever enough to see the main focus of your content overall.

It makes more sense to rank 2000+ related keywords and posts.

  • Long tail keywords have low rate of competition in internet world, so your website is new in the internet world then I suggest you please go with long tail keywords so you can rank but you will get limited traffic but that traffic will be highly convention.

  • You do understand that "automotive parts industry" is contained in "automotive parts industry in America" and "automotive parts industry suppliers," right?

And, do you know that it's a good idea to use related phrases, right?
  • Another trick you can use is to type your keyword in on Google and look down at the related terms that show up at the bottom of the page. Then try and find a way to add all of the ones that make sense and have relevance into your post/article.

  • Hi, I think u should use the long-tail phrase.
  • Yes, a long tail for every post will do the job. Post won't be a competition to each other. Use also similar phrases.

    • You should have 2 posts compete for the same keyword. Because there's nothing wrong with you winning position number 1 and position number 2!

  • Google ranks web pages, not websites. Each page of your site is a unique opportunity to rank for an individual keyword phrase. You should be going after all of them, devoting a unique page to each phrase you want to rank for - https://storecoach.com/perfect-on-page-seo
  • Thanks guys and gals. I worded the q terribly. I meant to say I have 1 2000+ word article. Should I optimize around the long tail or seed. The advice seems to be long tail based on responses. Thank you.

    • Optimize around whatever has the most searches that you actually have a chance of ranking for.

  • could anyone tell me difference between seed and long tail pharase??
  • Seed keyword is the main keyword put into a keyword generation tool like Google Keyword Planner. In that sense it is the seed keyword that generates all the others.

In the case above seed refers to the main or broad keyword.

In strict terms the long tail is simply the same keyword with more 'qualifying' words.

    i.e.
Dog Training = Main or Broad keyword
    New York Dog Training
    Dog Training for beginners
How to start a dog training school
would all be long tail keywords.

  • Before I start here... pls don't share your KW's publicly on forum because right now I can check if that KW is profitable (which I didn't do), and take it in front of your nose, make a site and sell leads gotten thru that site to car parts businesses.

    Now...
You should optimize around long tail phrase and the LSIs of that phrase.
So in this instance "automotive parts industry in America" you will look for variations automotive/car parts industry America/USA.

This is of course very simple example and it's not here for you to blindly use it but to use it as an inspiration and broaden your thinking.

    Best of luck with that...
