How can I SEO a lead capture page? Is it possible?

I was wondering if it is possible to get a good ranking for a lead capture page? I want to keep the page simple, then direct them visitors to more information after then fill in their email. Am I going about this the wrong way by not including very much content in my page? The specific page I am talking about is in my signature. Any suggestions?

    In my experience, yes. According to usual seo guidance, no. It depends on keyword selection and incoming links. I've found that they tend to do well in yahoo and not so well in google.

      Do you think it is better to change my site and load it up with information and content and remove my lead capture? Seems like a catch 22.

        Hard to say without more details, my personal preference would be to install wordpress in a subfolder and put valuable content there. Link off from posts to lead capture page with a strong call to action and link off from wordpress footer with you keyword phrase. Articles from external sites would go to lead capture page.

          Hi mlmguru,

          Your page will work best when it is specialized. If it's a lead generation page then make it the best lead generation page you possible can.

          The great thing about a website is that it can have as many pages as you need. Each of those pages can specialize and excel in their specific purpose. Just create extra pages for attracting targeted traffic from the search engines and feed them to your lead capture page.

            Hay guys,

            Thanks for this extremely useful post, I was kinda wondering the exact same thing, however in my case, I have been advertising on classifieds and that's how I get my targeted traffic. im doing petty good this way for me.

    It is entirely possible. I have a a lead capture page that I created for a client which is ranking #4 on google for and really is only a lead capture form with a paragraph of text on top of it.

      WOW, so how do you do this kind of thing then ? I thought it all depended on how much text you have and content on the page, and i lead capture page pretty much is no text or just statements.
