How to Get from #3 to #1 in Google?

I have a site that carries an affiliate product which is doing well. I have done a little promo on the category page itself but not on the sub page that has the actual affiliate product. I am ranked #3 for the affiliate product in google. But I have only used general terms for keywords ie instead of the product itself for example instead of a product name like FatLoss4Idiots I am using keyword terms like Weight Loss Plan.

So I think I should probably zero in on the exact product name...maybe direct traffic to the actual sub page instead of the category?

What would you do to boost from 3 to 1 in Google?

    You could use Yahoo site explorer to find out where the number one spot is getting their links from. Then start a link building campaign targetting these sites, you could start off with the high PR ones first.

      Hey,

      Well, i think you should work to direct more traffics to the actual sub page instead of the category, with choosing the right keywords to attract visitors to your products.

      I may share with you some tips to increase your traffic and to get higher google rank and you can find many other and even more details on web pages:-

      1) Back links are links pointed to your site from other internet sites. The more back links you can gain to your site the better your page rank and the higher you will get in the search engine rankings. A good way to do this is to join forums to get links to your site. The best forums is to join are forums that are relevant to your site as Google will see that you are getting targeted links back to your site. It is a great way to advertise your site and build an internet presence for yourself personally.

      2) Submit your site to search engine directories. If you do this then you will be enhancing your web presence as you will be recorded on other search engines. This is also another way to get free link back to your site. As always the more links the higher the page rank.

      3) If you decide to make an Ezine it can be very beneficial an augment your web presence. By creating an Ezine you will help compel visitors to go to your site regularly. The added bonus of using an Ezine is that you can submit the information about your Emagazine to an Ezine catalog.

        I used Angela's links to get one of my micro niche websites from #4 to #1 and it's because the competition is low. So if it works for me it should work for you too although it may take you much longer if you have high competition.

    analyze the competition, work on seo both off and on page. see if they are doing anything that you are not. With time and research you can get the #1 spot.
