I have added a /page/ to my sitemap.xml but have not submitted the page to the add URL on google. After googlebot crawls, does it automatically submit it to Google OR have you gotten to sbubmit it every time one makes a page. Any feedback welcome.

Thanks

The best way I have found to get the sitemap crawled is:
Include it in your Robots.txt file AND submit it to Google Webmaster Tools

If you have already fetched your url through your webmasters tool account then all the work is done.

Honestly, if you need a site map in order to get Google to crawl all of your pages, you don't have very good navigation. Sitemaps really don't do a whole lot. A good website will have all its pages indexed whether it has a sitemap or not.

Thanks guys for your responses but dave.hermansen got it wrong, Google just indexed my page this morning, will carry on this way in the future. Although I did insert a bot coding message and Google said thanks, maybe it was this that helped.

I got it wrong? You are saying that you have some sort of proof that Google wouldn't have indexed your page if you did not have a sitemap?

Google Automatically crawls all the pages of a website though you don't submit a sitemap.xml file. The only difference is that, it takes some time for google to crawl all the pages and it is little faster if submitted through sitemap.xml
*If you want to index a new/fresh webpage very fast, then Go to Google Search Console and Go to Fetch as Google and input the post URL and within few minutes, your new page would start appearing on google search results.

Search engines are advanced now a days and it will index the pages automatically (if it is not blocked). Just properly upload the sitemap. If you need quick indexing, you can submit URLs directly with the help of webmaster tool.
