Got hit by Negative SEO. What's the best way to counter?

I have a site that's been consistently ranking for multiple generic keywords on Page 1. For the past two months, I've noticed on ahrefs that I'm getting low quality backlinks almost on a daily basis. I checked the domains and they all seem to point to a single individual/company. I really think I'm being attacked. Consequently, my rankings have gone down. I regularly disavow these domains on Google but the backlinks keep coming.

Any other remedy to counter negative SEO? Are do I really have to track this guy/company and warn them of legal action? Thanks.

You can contact the webmaster of the site and request them to please remove all the links pointing to your site.

The one thing that counters bad links are quality links from real sites (in context links)

You've to disavow those links. I think, this is only the option for now!

You've done all you can, although it should make no difference.

According to Google, unless you received a manual penalty, which you would see in Search Console, negative SEO would not be an effective method for bringing your site down in the rankings, since their algorithm no longer devalues bad links, it simply ignores them.

There could be other things causing a rankings drop.

As Mike suggested, building more good links will always help a site.

More positive SEO to help even things out and build your profile.

Maybe solid blogging with good content marketing so that the good SEO starts to trickle in naturally and combat any negative SEO now and in the future.
