Do Mega Sites work organically anymore?

I have about 60,000 followers on Twitter and I'm thinking about creating a mega website on body building / weight loss. I have about $10,000 to spend on writers and just have to wonder...

If I give this bodybuilding website a couple years - do you think that I can be seriously ranking for competitive keywords?

My CMS will be Wordpress and I'll place the articles in a silo structure.

Any thoughts?

Google really likes consistency, so spread your articles out.

Liaise with journalist for back links to your articles.

    Consider using Instagram influencers.

Also building up a nice Facebook following will help.

Let me know if you need any help.

Why wouldn't it be able to work?

It's a hugely competitive market. You'll probably need to spend more than $10,000 to really be competitive over time, but I'm not sure what you are looking for here?

Can a new body building website rank in search engines? Sure. Will yours? Who knows?

That is a lie. Google could care less about consistency.

if you have 10,000$ to spend I would suggest you to do proper keyword research before you start spending that money.
Hire a good writer and provide him/her with the keywords you want to rank for.
Do not hurry to post as much as you can but be consistent in posting and promote them on social media sites.
Get in touch with influencers with the same niche and pay them to promote your website.
Spy your competitors and learn from them.

only time wil tell tell but just like Kumar Rahul 13 said, you need to invest in proper keyword research first and develop a content strategy that's safe and sound and produces everygreen content.

please note that it is reocmmended to choose a 3 step kw research aka you will first target longtails for the first couple of months, then step 2 go to shorter keywords and after about 1 year go for the difficult keywords.

honestly, with 10k i would simply invest in some affiliate sites and make a ton of money overnight just by buying the traffic to the affiliate offers i promote

It might work only if the articles are of SUPER HIGH QUALITY!

Regular people are more and more informed about fitness and weight loss and they can easily tell the difference between the same old rehashed content and quality information backed-up by science.

So instead of getting 3,333 articles for $3 each from cheap writers, focus on getting 100 super high-quality articles at $100 each from fitness personalities, personal trainers, scientists and so on.
