    I think both are important. Blog is the platform where you can share about your service and product elaborately, it is good for getting traffic as well as brand engagement and we can get valuable backlinks from blogs. on the other hand forum is also good for getting traffic .

    Although guest posting - and linking to your blog - can do wonders for your SEO juice.

    But work multiple channels to see immense benefits. Develop more of a viral online presence; looks good when Google sees your business site getting links in from your blog, guest posts, forums, and social media too.

    Forums are for group discussions mostly free for all to share their opinion or information about the topics. Forums posts are most likely to include more knowledge as there would be many of topics for discussions.



    Answer to the question: Both have their own importance in SEO as BLOG POSTING will help in promoting particular "keywords" and Forum Discussions will bring genuine traffic to website and also useful for brand promotions.

    Blogs are good for readers whereas those who don't want to read will like forums. They get their answers really quick and from different points of views. Blogs come from only one point of view which is from the writer and they tend to be really lengthy which can bore the one reading it. Both works for SEO but I'm more inclined to blogging because most of the information has been researched and worded properly unlike forums - most of it comes from people's experiences or what they think they know and can be informal.
