Can you help me figure out why my keyword rankings have 'weirdness' spray painted all over them. What's wrong with the Google algorithm? I have no manual penalties whatsoever.

You provided zero information about your site or what kind of activities you have been up to on it.

You could have lost some links. If you are using a blog style home page and posting frequently, you are constantly changing the content of your site and your internal link structure. That can cause a lot of fluctuations.

Those are the most common reasons I see for ranking drops, but there are tons of other possibilities.

Well, ranking comes from content and backlinks, so if any of these is not taken care of you can get what you get right now. Google has not announced any major update as we know recently. So please revise your assets and get back with some more details so we can help.

If you have checked out the screenshots, these are the issues you may have noticed:

Pattern 1 - From Page 1 to Page 10+ and then back to Page one then down again

Patern 2 - Beyond Page 20 (not tracked by Serpfox anymore) since the last weeks of October. Haven't recovered since. I've checked the Search Console. There are no manual penalties.

Pattern 3 - Rapid turn of events since the start of November

Again, I've gotten no manual penalties from G. One interesting thing though is I have been getting about 30 spammy links since Sept but I've disavowed them all already. And a lot of forumers say G disregards low quality links anyway instead of penalizing you. So what gives?

Have you checked the rankings manually? That looks like it could be a problem with the rank tracker.

It's weird because the results of doing a manual rank tracking seems to be consistent with Serpfox results. So the rankings are really going up and down drastically.

We have last update on -- October 17, 2014 as Penguin 3.0. But i dont think it is the reason. If there are sudden drops, check your meta tags, sitemap & robots file. May be any of them is restored.
Check if y have made any redesign changes...
Install Google webmasters and check if there is any error showing there.

Hope these small tips will help

All things considered, positioning originates from content and backlinks, so if any of these isn't dealt with you can get what you get at the present time. Google has not reported any significant refresh as we probably am aware as of late. So please reconsider your advantages and get back with some more points of interest so we can help.

I'm curious how your competition is doing compared to your site. Maybe some of your backlinking sites/pages are no longer pointing to your site for one reason or another.

That doesn't explain the massive daily fluctuations though.

The most common cause I have seen of ranking fluctuations like that is posting content regularly with a blog style layout.

Interesting take, Mike. I would love to dig deeper into that. Why would a blog style layout cause ranking fluctuations though?

Its amazing how many people do not realize this. Some even think that posting often just by itself helps them to rank.

      Nope.

every time you add a post to a page you are changing the relevancy score of the page. Relevancy is based on the content on the page.

In our case, the pages affected by this ranking issue do not have a blog style layout (home and services pages). Although, we have a blog page which does have a blog style layout but that's a separate case I guess.
