Buying domains for link juice question

If you were to buy domains for link juice, what factors would you be looking for?

How effective is it anyway? General thoughts would be appreciated

    If you mean for PBNs then I always buy expired web 2.0s and I look for PAs of 30 or better. It's extremely effective if you are building up a network of sites that all have link juice and good metrics then pointing them to your money site.

    For link juice, I would recommend buying brand based and keyword based domains. It will help to increase the number of links on the search of your brand. Keyword-based domain will help to complete the competitors for 1st page ranking.

    What you are looking for is the link profile of the domain you buy. DA, PA, TF, and any other metric you want to make up does not matter on its own. Buying based on one of them, as a poster above suggested, is just dumb. The metrics are too inconsistent.

    You need to manually inspect the link profile or else you will end up buying a lot of duds.

    Examine the link profile by yourself or make that happen by hiring someone. There are several factors you may consider such as where from the link is coming , how are the anchor texts, the page which is referring is it ranking.

    Mike and expmbr are correct. The link profile is what matters, not some invented metrics like DA and those links have to be looked at carefully, one by one.

    The question you need to ask yourself is whether they are links that you would want coming to your money site. Are they relevant links from related websites or are they totally unrelated? If none of them would help your main money site, the "juice" from them may not help you accomplish your goal. Are they links that were editorially placed by the other website (a link to the site in an article) or are they worthless links that anyone could place themselves (i.e. blog comments, forum links, free automatic placement directory links, etc.)?
