If you want legitimate links from government websites and educational institutions, the ONLY way to get them is to contact them directly.

9,999 times out of 10,000, they are not going to be interested in linking to your site.

There are an easiest way to do this, find and buy expired domains that have existing backlink from .edu and/org .gov site, then use this domain for your site or PBN.

So, why don't you build links from normal sites? Its quite impossible to get links from those sides unless you have someone on the inside.

yeah you're right but first read Google's webmaster rules, footer links are only spam links. search eduction websites near you and ask then you have some jobs vacancy and point your website url on it.

No you won't. Anyone selling .gov and .edu links is a low-life scammer just trying to take advantage of people.

    Hi,

If you want edu and gov links:

    - spend the next 3-5 years of your life learning your niche inside out
    - spend the next 3-5 years of your life practicing your skills, to become so good, that you become an authority in your niche
    - spend the next 3-5 years of your life not trying to get, but giving

Then, Young Grasshopper, you have a chance at these backlinks.

It is tough to get these links because you earn these links, and you earn these links over years, and most marketers have the patience of a guppy with ADD, sans Ritalin.

Move the focus from today, or tomorrow, to years from now, and you may have a chance. There is a good reason why it's hard to get these links; you gotta work for them!

You can do all that, but you are probably still going to be in a niche that no government institution or college university has any interest in linking to.

Create a scholarship for your business, setting up the specific page on your website and then reaching out to Universities, etc. Most of them have a page on their website, where they promote external scholarships for their students. It's the easiest way I know of getting .edu links.

Government links are a bit harder. But generally there are government/community programs that you might be able to get involved with. This can earn you .gov links.

FINALLY! Someone posted the real strategy for earning these links.

But in response to the original poster, I have to ask, why bother?

You're going to spend at least $1k/year on the scholarship if you want any colleges to link to you. There's better strategies for link-building. Invest that $1k in quality content writing and publish on niche-relevant authority sites.

I will not waste my time begging from .edu and .gov sites for the backlinks because it is not possible they are more on offering service to their municipalities rather than with your website.

If you insist on getting .edu backlinks, there are students and instructors who will sometimes post a guest post for you on their blog. Does it make much, if any, difference to your search engine rank? Probably not.

If you want worthwhile .gov links, you are going to have to call up government institutions and ask for them. I'm going to bet though that you do not have a website that any government institution would have the need or desire to link to.

You are wasting your time. Just like .edu links, .gov links do not hold any special power. They are judged the same as a link on a .com site or any other site.

  • Related, authority sites are good substitutes to .gov, .edu links. It is not always about quantity of backlinks from these "special sites" (way too old of a strategy, i may add) but more of how quality your backlinks are in terms of your chosen niche. So might as well spend your time creating good content strategy and try to contact similar/related authority sites to feature your content on their page.

I just don't understand why people don't go the easy route!

You want a .edu backlink? Start a school and give yourself a bakclink.

You want a .gov backlink? Get yourself elected and give yourself a backlink.

T's so simple! Why don't people get it?

If you think its that easy - then you are wrong. But its not that too hard as well, Depends on scenario.

I will share you an example.

1 of my client wanted edu/gov links to his site in 2017 his product was web development/app development - Now if we think from brain why will edu/gov sites will give backlinks to them? but people do get it from them if either they are into educational domain or related to them somehow and are working on something really a big scale and beneficial concept something like - Microsoft, Cloud Technology, etc. Then they can get legal backlinks.

But he still wanted them, in that case - you can find edu/gov sites (Make sure to check there DA/TF and Ahref data for spam score and how good they are) and make article or comment backlinks. That's how it works for nearly 9999 out of 10000 sites and user cases.

2nd scenario - I had another client with educational niche he usually get them easily.

So it depends how you break the scenario in your case. Good luck
