Content's quality is determined by its ability to pass information and also the uniqueness of the information.

So it's not about the length of the content as well readability? I have outsourced some articles from US and UK writer but according to the tool, those are not easily readable but the articles are very standard with detail information.

I would say that quality content is determined on measurable factors. time on page - use a stop watch, and have several people read through your page to get an idea of how much time it takes to read 100% of your content. Bounce rate. This one os a bit tricky.. you can only see the action ( the bounce ). Again I would say that only the bounces that occur on say Google Search are the ones that matter most. ( you can actually figure this out using your data logs and some decent coding in excel )

Layout... I would say to some extent this is a biggy. Google looks at a page in segments. ( Header, Body, side bar, footer ) Bing does the same thing, but thier segments are far more fragmented ( Header, upper body, mid body, lower body, etc ) So layout is obviously important. Layout in terms of readability, very important... is the text all crammed together, is it layed out with solid headers and sub headers? can you scan through the page to get to a pice of information you are most interested in? Is there so many graphics on the page, thatit seems like you are scrolling forever. Are you startingh with content at the top section of the page? All these things make for a better user experience.

Conversion.... Layout has everything to do with converting. CRO ( Conversion Rate Optimisation ) is a whole other aspect of study in the realm of websites. How and where you place elements on a page can effect conversions.

Given that lately Google is making money everywhere else but from SE.
less than 2% of efforts it still designates to running SE for G. is waste of time.

Looking on garbage SERP is offering lately, in my opinion G's algo is on autopilot
and I won't be surprised if in couple years from now it will drop SE all together.

You know you have a high quality content page when you compare it to all other pages ranking for that phrase and it blows them away.

It is not "THE main factor" for ranking, however. It is one of many and backlinks still play a major role - especially if you want a site to rank quickly.

I don't think so. If you think that quality content means length, visual appeal, no mistake in spelling and grammar, good format, readable, expertise, authoritativeness, trustworthiness; then you are totally wrong.

If I share my view about quality content then it means :
    1. Quality content depends on the data by which users can show interest on the particular things.
    2. Content quality based on how much you get out of it; suppose you own a football team and need a scorer to your team. So are you going to sign a player based on his anticipating or how he defends? No you want to score goal.
    3. Quality content has remarkable CTR
    4. It has a lots of social activity

Those are not ranking factors, and a bounce is not always a bad thing. Depends on the goal for a page. If I make a sale, get an affiliate click, or convert a visitor to a lead, that's a bounce, but they did exactly what I wanted.

Exactly correct. Google doesn't even know whose bounce rate is what or what amount of time do your users spend on your site.

Yeah they do.. you can see these numbers in GA.. they know.. what is missunderstood is people think well they dont know if you come from X page.. well no they dont.. but they sure know when you are initiating the visit from a Google property... with something like 40K searches per second and 3.5 billion per day and in excess of a trillion searches per year.. that makes for one hell of a data set. You are flat out kidding yourself to believe that Bounce and Time on page are not factors.

    Hi K,

Quality content solves reader problems in in-depth, complete fashion. Think more like resource and less like a short article. Layout plays a part in engaging and converting but simply solving a problem is a bigger factor.

I'd add that getting soild links in through valuable, authentic guest posting would certainly be a big factor with SEO too.

Focus on solving searcher's question - or rather potential customers' questions - and quality content will follow.

Layout is obviously important and more content writers should take a few lessons in UX to make sure that the content "fits the frame" (Though it ideally should be the other way around.)

Quality is a nonsense term. The internet is full of stupid, idiotic, dumb, lame, stolen, wasted, Bul l $hi t, content.

Google does not give a rat's behind about quality. They want info, answers, and entertainment.

You offer up what people want and can find, your quality is meaningless.

Quality is a just some word that people use when they are clueless as to how the internet and google work.

It aint quality. Proof? Wikipedia, icanhazcheezburger, a zillion others.

What quality does amazon have? They use copied information..... how is that quality?

Oh yeah. It's amazon. Quality does not matter..... just look at the top ten best sellers in books...

The subtle art of not giving a F* ck is near the tops.

Holy shmoly! That sounds like a good way to do SEO!

Someone once said Content is a King. I believe, it is.
    But what is quality?
I like this opinion for a previous message:
Quality is a nonsense term. The internet is full of stupid, idiotic, dumb, lame, stolen, wasted, Bul l t, content.
    By "quality" I mean "engagement".
For example, YouTube is full of stupid nonsense videos. But people keep watching and sharing them. This is engagement.
The same applies to text information.
Even though there are some nonsense messages here on, WarriorForum, but people still keep reading, learning, refreshing, so WarriorForum might be considered a quality website with a quality content.

      Well said Alex,

The more attention the content is able to grab and the longer it is able to keep that attention, the more valuable the content is.

The uniqueness of the information may be very interesting to some, but others may not be looking for something new to learn. Those mindless YouTube videos provide no value for the betterment of humankind but are extremely good at grabbing peoples attention.

All we know that content is the king in SEO.

I would like to tell you about content
    1. Content should be simple and readable
2.Content size should not be so biggy

Please, remember the above points this will make your content as a quality content.

What savidge4 said is correct. I tried different things with one of my blog. Here is what I did- first made a WordPress site full fast loading with nothing in sidebar, no author profile in the page, less menu items, no sharing buttons, no clutter what so ever. And then after some days, I made that site with full featured so that visitors can stay on my site. I saw the site in the second case doing better in terms of SEO. It's all about visitor retention, speed and design, which is achieved with only good content on your site.
    Hope it helps!

I agree with exmrb, quality content should have plenty of good actionable information, meaning when you get done with it you should be able to take the steps necessary to start but may need more information to go further.

About the layout of the information I don't quit understand what you mean. Your layout is defined by the design of your chosen theme.

    Factor of Quality Content:

*People will understand your message better
    *Lower bounce rate
*Make pages primarily for users, not for search engines.
*Create content for every stage of the sales funnel
*Create content on a regular basis
    *More (social media) attention
*Leads to higher ranking and higher conversions

If a content is well written and at the same time interesting, that's when you can consider it as a quality content. And to attract attention, the length or the article's layout is not so important as much as the way one executes his ideas through words for better understanding.
