How can you differentiate between Dofollow and Nofollow link?

I want to create backlinks through blog commenting which I have been doing since few months but ain't getting results? How can I create backlinks with commenting and how can I find which sites are Dofollow and Nofollow links?

    Links that "point" to another site is called do follow links. These pass link juice to a page, help to increase its PageRank and raise its profile to the search engines. The more natural do follow links a website/page has, the higher it is likely to rank online.
    A no follow link is a link that doesn't "point" to another site (no signposts). Nofollow links don't pass any link juice, they don't help increase PageRank and doesn't help the site/page it's pointing to rank any higher.

    Use source to open page with hyperlink to your site and see if there is rel="nofollow" in it

    I use this nofollow Chrome extension. It puts a red-dashed box around all nofollow links - NoFollow - Extension for Chrome, Opera and Safari

    That said, if you think blog comments are going to permanently propel you to the top of the SERPS, you need to re-evaluate your link building plan.

    BTW, it would be beneficial to you and anyone else if you understand that there
    is not a such thing as "dofollow" term thus, if you are going to try to search for
    "dofollow" reference, you are for a big surprise, there is ain't one to find anywhere.

    Nofollow links attributes do not allow search engine bots to follow links.That means if the website owner is linking back to you with no follow attributes, it does not pass on link juice. Only Humans will be able to follow the links Dofollow links allow google (all search engines) to follow them and reach our website. Giving us link juice and a backlink.

    Note: By default, all the hyperlinks are do follow. So, you don't need to do anything to make a link do-follow.

    Tips:
    Always try to keep no index attribute for pages like contact and no follow attribute for affiliate links on your blog posts.If you are linking to any spam website for any reason, use the no-follow link attribute.

    Links that do not have nofollow, are not always "follow."

    There is no "dofollow," and there is no "follow."

    Google itself decides through its algorithm which links may or may not count.

    So looking at the source code, and not seeing nofollow, only gives you a chance of being seen.

    If you don't know the difference, or how to tell, then the question is a mute one anyway.

    It's like asking how you can become a brain surgeon when you have no clue as to how to get into medical school.... it simply does not matter for you!

    Hi Alex,

    What do the comments look like?

    Comment genuinely, crafting a 4-6 paragraph piece of valuable content that looks like a mini guest post. 1-2 lines will not inspire bloggers to befriend you, nor readers to click on your link. Gotta be mindful and spend 5 minutes or so making an impact to see positive results.

    It's very easy. You can easily open source of any website then you can check its robot.txt file to see that link is dofollow or nofollow. Nofollow looks like <a href="http://www.google.com/" rel="nofollow">Google</a>.

    If you are not getting any results then you should analyze your website for some technical on page issues. After implement, I recommend you try to build some quality backlinks with dofollow article submission, business reviews, forums discussions, infographic presentation, powerpoint presentation etc. I know it's bit of read but I hope this will help you to solve your problem.

    Most of the blog commenting sites provide nofollow link. In case you want to research or still wants to focus on blog commenting install some free tools/extensions which will help you choosing the sites which provide dofollow links. As mentioned by @dave_hermansen, Open your sites list in a browser and check them with extension/tools if they are indicating dofollow links then pick them as useful sites for you.
