  • It's pretty much meaningless to SEO. In addition, the links are usually nofollow. However, it can bring some traffic, which in itself may slightly boost your page "rank", as people dwell on them.

  • Yes, obviously they are

  • Total waste of time for SEO purposes. As others have said, most forums have nofollow backlinks. Even if the links are followed, Google isn't stupid. They know that you can place links there, yourself, so they do not value them as editorially placed links.

That said, if the forum is highly related to your site, it could send great traffic.

I think forum submission is the great way to drive traffic agreed many forums provide no follow links and plenty of them have irrelevant questions to stop spamming. I read an article which clearly says No Follow links are also good and ranking factors in SEO. As we know Moz, Ahrefs, Majestics and other big names in SEO industry use Domain Authority and Page Authority to analyze the website. Whereas Google does not give any attention to these factors. No, Follow links on high DA & PA sites gives you more link juice and it will help you to increase your website DA & Pa.

  • Forum commenting when done right can be really good in SEO.

I would suggest building a good reputation first as a commenter who provides valuable insights and relevant comments before throwing links around.

Putting a link an making a mediocre comment won't do you any good and you will likely come off as a spammer.

    Hope this helps.
  • It depends on what niche forum you are commenting for building links. If the forum's related to your niche and you drive engaging traffic to your website, it will count as qaulity backlinks and thus helps you to rank your website.

  • Find some dofollow(only) forum sites and post there some informative content (dont spam). It will be small(not great) help for your website to gain some traffic.
  • As a few others have stated - it can be a waste of time. There are only a few forums that are worthwhile. Try and look for search engine friendly forums that are in your niche. A mix of do follow and no follow should be obtained.
  • Forum backlinks works great but becareful with making to much in a short time !
  • Lot of people are saying that forum is a waste of time but I do not think so. True, for SEO you have better options around but forum can bring a great traffic if you know how to play smart with the forum topic and content.

  • Time of forums had passed. Forums which already build their names can maybe make some good SEO for the off page submissions but not sure how useful this is in reality if you start from zero?

  • Here's the thing. If you use certain measurements, such as MOZ's Domain Authority, the forum sig backlink will count for something. However, does it matter to Google? No, not one bit.

It's also why it's important to not rely too much on any one metric. You can still extrapolate very valuable information from sites like MOZ or ahrefs, don't get me wrong, but they all must be taken with a 'grain of salt'. None of the 3rd party tools have perfect information. Only Google/Bing come close.
  • Is forum posting or submission are same? if this happen then what will be next step for seo method new sites to rank.
  • What will be the next seo method in 2018 if the forum submission dead.
  • Forum Post one of the best method to boost keyword ranking. Every forum websites have their guidelines, so this is mandatory to follow it.

Forums are still helpful but you should be selective in choosing the forums where you are doing postings. You should only choose forums that are related to your niche and are pretty active. If you are present in large forums with lots of active members and sharing something about your business/website, you are almost certain to get exposure.

  • Ok I have read up on nofollow links and I think that if your content is of good enough quality to get people make forum users aware of and click your link to engage with your content then yes it shouldn't make any difference if your link is follow or nofollow.

To prove a point, I was reading up on a Moz link about nofollow, which outlines what I've just stated. https://moz.com/blog/the-hidden-power-of-nofollow-links I am intrigued to know how many clicks this particular link gets (be honest!).

The thing is it has to be worthwhile link and not flout any spamming rules otherwise it won't see the light of day.

As far as signature links are concerned, I can't see how they could benefit on a forum amongst other web designers, developers and SEO consultants etc already on this forum. That is when contribution to the forum community is key.

    • These are the stats I just pulled from the bottom of the Warrior Forum homepage:

      Threads: 762,402, Posts: 8,875,574, Members: 1,358,481

Assuming only half of those posts include a signature link, there are somewhere around 4 MILLION outbound links that also happen to be NoFollow...

Do you really think that getting a handful of those 4 million+ outbound links is going to do anything to your site authority???

Relevant traffic is the most significant benefit you'll see from forum posting.

Our traffic went up significantly after I started hanging out here, and we recently closed an AdWords account off Warrior Forum. WooHoo!!!

But there has been no real SEO gain from the 90+ backlinks going to our site.

I watch our rank like a hawk. Even though the SEMrush link-building tool ranks Warrior Forum as a "5 out of 5" link-building opportunity for our keywords, there's been no significant change at all.

The verdict is in as far as I'm concerned. It's still worthwhile to participate in forums for brand awareness, but not for SEO.

SEO takes so much time and effort that you have to be smart about what you work on. Wasting time on outdated techniques will lose you clients because you will not be delivering actual results.

If you really want to do well and build a future in SEO, I suggest you focus all your link-building efforts on outreach to earn editorial link placement on quality websites.
  • For increasing the traffic of website forum posting is now one of the best way to increase traffic but It doesn't help in rankings because mostly forum websites gives no follow link. Many people's join forums for these purpose but I'm here to increase my knowledge and share my experience on Digital Marketing.

  • This totally depends on the number of engagement you increase through your forum. Your ranking depends totally on the visitors.
  • Niche forums still work great for me. If we build a authority in niche forum and genuinely reply questions there, there is good chance to build a network. Doing forums just for signature link is not worthy at all. Better we should explore some niche forums based on our website category, start building a community there, answers the queries, ask your queries and learn new things everyday.
  • Including forum links in link building/backlinks strategies is a bad idea. Most of them do not provide link juice value as they are good for some engagements if followed correctly. So do not include them in your backlinks making strategy just focus to bring some genuine traffic through them by making quality posts and engaging in them. And yup it is also a great source to share & gain knowledge about the industries.

  • Yes Forum Submission is still valuable in SEO.

Try to insert your website link in the body of Post rather than in Signature.

This way you website will get juice of that back-link.
