EzineArticles Backlinks

I've been submitting several EzineArticles for each inner page on a bunch of my new sites. When I run a backlink check, I can see that they're indexed (according to Yahoo at least).

These are low competition keywords and they should be ranking pretty easily.

Here's my question. If the EZA backlinks are recognized and indexed, could it still take a few weeks before the impact of these links affects my search engine ranks for these keywords? Even if they're recognized, do they somehow need to "settle in" with Google some more before they'll count for something?

I'm just wondering if the best is yet to come for these links, or if they simply aren't carrying the weight that I've been led to believe they would.

  • I'm really in the same boat. I have EZA backlinks and I didn't notice these links helping my site in the SERPs until maybe a few weeks later. So, I think that the best is to come.

The important thing is to keep backlinking (quality wise).

    • Thanks, good to know. I would typically do UAW submissions and see some more instant gratification, but the power of those backlinks is a little short-lived compared to what I've heard EZA backlinks can be...so I'm trying to shift my focus a bit, either combining elements of the two, or ideally just sticking to EZA and one or two other directories, as this would definitely save me some time if it worked.
  • Give your articles a boost by making sure to bookmark all you article page links at the top bookmarking sites.

    • Thanks. I understand the concept of doing that, but I'm just wondering about the power of the backlinks on their own and whether they take time before their weight really kicks in...as in, has all of the juice from the indexed links already been applied to my ranking. Do I need to backlink more, or can I move on to building more sites, (which I'd really prefer to do, but won't if this is all I should expect out of the links I've built)?

Still, I'll try your suggestion out to see if it's worth doing relative to the time spent.

  • Yes bookmarking, and pinging, should definitely help speed up the process.

    • They're already getting indexed so I don't see how pinging would have any impact on the answer to my question.
  • What is your definition of low competition? I hope it's not the amout of page in quotes?
If it's not the latter then great! With seo you really do need to give it time to settle in. I waited about 2 months before my keywords went to number 1 in Google and it still jumped around. I think I've settled now. I did do lots of backlinks and this is what you should be doing:

    Article backlinking
Web2.0 backlinking ie squidoo, hubpages, blogger, wordpress.com etc
Social bookmarking (bookmark the web2.0 sites)
    Profile backlinking

    • No, it's not the page in quotes...I check a bunch of factors with Market Samurai. Backlinks to page, page rank, whether the ranking pages have the keywords in their titles, URL, meta, H1, nature of the anchor text backlinking to each of those pages, etc.

I've gotten to the #1 result for a handful of other terms, but with more SEO work. I'd never used EZA as a method before so I was wondering if the articles I wrote wouldn't be enough since the backlinks have all been "found" and I still haven't seen much movement --- or, if I should wait it out for a few weeks and let things settle since it's only been a week or two since the backlinks were picked up on by the search engines.

Naturally, I know that more work building backlinks will get me there, but I was wondering/hoping if giving it a few weeks would naturally give these page the lift I was expecting so that I could move on to building/backlinking other sites.

I'd rather build up a few more properties than spend time on this one, assuming that I could reasonably expect a rise if it takes a few weeks for the impact of the EZA backlinks I've built to kick in.
  • Backlinks affect start after sometime. No one can be sure how much time to wait to see this affect. However, the real thing is the quality of backlinks. Links from EAs are good backlinks but they alone will most probably not help a site to some major change in SERPs.

I have been doing article submission to top 10 or so directories including EAs: In my experience, these links do help: but the affect can take sometime and these links do not give a major boost in SERPs.
  • I've never heard of bookmarking your bookmark. I'll give it a try. Has it worked well for you?

    • Not only bookmark your bookmarks but also take the rss from your article and also your profile pages and submit that also.

Not all at once of course but bit by bit.

      For me it works.

  • I see a lot of EzineArticles articles get top spots at Google for high competition keywords. I tried to check backlinks by using both Site Explorer - Yahoo! Site Explorer and Backlinks Checker Tool - Backlink Watch tools. Site Explorer never shows backlinks for the EZA. And Backlink Watch only displays 100 first backlinks.

How do we can check backlinks for EZA?
