Back Linking Profile for New Site

Hi -

I have recently launched a new website and I am starting a backlinking profile. I have several questions:

1. Business Listings - I have signed up to a something called CentralIndex dot com through the Birmingham Mail dot co dot uk. I thought I was just getting a listing on Birmingham Mail but I already have a couple more local newspaper listings. Question is - if I end up getting 20 or 30 backlinks from local papers in the next week does that look spammy to google? Or is it normal.

I'm very cautious at present because I'm starting fresh and don't want to take any risks.

2. Posting Articles on 3rd Party Sites - I am looking at doing this. How quickly should I aim to build my back linking profile. If I did say 4 posts a month on 3rd party sites (e.g. 500 to 1,000 word articles) would this be a reasonable / steady / organic pace?

Thanks,

There is no limitation to that how many article can you publish on other sites. As long as they are relevant you will do just fine.

Make some good content that your visitor like, then they will share your link with others.

Only 2 to 3 posts are enough for backlinks from 3rd part websites because if you can make many backlinks in a month it would be spam your website in google

Thanks - does this apply to links from business directories as well? Because there are many that you can register yourself with.

Only bother with topical directories and local ones the rest are worthless.

If and when you take the time to write on other peoples' sites that you check out the site thoroughly.

You might be surprised how many blogs have spammy links pointing at them, which can "artificially" inflate their 3rd party ratings. *Take these 3rd party ratings with a grain of salt, so to speak.

If the business directories are local and legit - there is nothing to worry about. Only be worried if you suddenly spike in link velocity, it implies manipulation is going on.

Your citations and NAP need to perfect too, to be included in the local listings pack. Ideally include schema and your map on the site too.

Also stick to local sites (if that's what you are covering) to begin with. 4 should be fine - just watch your anchor text and use Brightlocal and Ahrefs to meseaure what your competitors have been up to, and do it better

Thanks for your advice. Actually I signed up to Central Index through Birmingham Mail. It seems to be populating multiple local directories and I have 4 backlinks in one day. It think it may end up creating a lot! Will Google understand these are directory listings or should I be worried that it looks like backlink spam?

You'll be fine as long as the anchor text used by all these newspaper listings is generic/brand names.

For instance, if they are all linking to you with your site's name, that's great! If they are all linking to you with the anchor text: "buy this keyword" then it will look spammy EVEN if on newpaper sites.

Don't bother posting articles on 3rd party sites for links unless those articles are going to be featured on the homepage (or get properly interlinked on the site).

For instance, if you submit an article on wordpress or livejournal, it won't receive any internal links (nor external), no one will read it and you won't get any benefits from that.

Instead, if you're going the article route for backlinks, then become a regular contributor on a community website. You'll need to apply to become a contributor which will be more effort however your links will be MUCH more powerful when you do post there.

To find sites the accept contributors in your industry, try searching on Google for something like: "Apply to contribute KEYWORD" or even "Contribute KEYWORD".

With that, I found a bunch of places that accept contributors in the UK (For instance, the EveningStandard UK newspaper, etc.

There are hundreds of ways to build links back to your site but remember that the links are near-worthless if they are buried deep within a site. For prime-time links (the one that will get you ranking #1 on Google), you want to be featured front & center on whatever site you are posting.

p.s. Oh, and avoid old things like Ezine / Goarticles, those techniques are outdated and Google has adjusted the link value so it has little to no impact.

In organic way you can make backlinks, here amount is not factor if it happen in a organic way. But risk will be there if you use any kind of bot, then google can take actions. Other wise there wont be any problem to making backlinks. One thing is very big matter here quality is main factor here not quantity. If you make quality backlinks in short amount it will be works well other hand if you make backlinks in low quality sites in a huge amount then it wont be fruitful however it should be. Another thing is taking more time can create problem for ranking up a website. So I think go with organic way is risk free.

A backlink is a link you place on another persons website and hope the search engines see it. You can use anchor text within the link, which will turn that link into a word, and the search engines love this because they will be able to evaluate what the link is all about. Of course, you'll want to use anchor text that is related to the page it's linked to. Doing this will show the search engines, not just Google, what your link is about and what they are about to go and look at as long as the link is dofollow

What do you aim to rank for?

20-30 links does not look spammy at all, especially from well established sites like 'local papers'

There is no as such limit for the guest post or posting articles on 3rd party website. Moreover there is no problem with 30-40 links per day until and unless you are using relevant keywords. I would also suggest you to do content marketing.

Getting backlinks from News Sites really good for you and it's not going to harm your site.

Posting quality articles (1000+ words) on various niches is a good idea. Keep using variations of your keywords.

That will help you boost your ranking organically.

    Good luck.

Hi - its in a very competitive niche! However, all these thoughts are really useful.

What is a "news site"? Is this like a newspaper?

What happens if I post a reply here with my link in it? Does that work?

Yes, that's like newspaper or media sites like New York Times.

Yes, posting a reply with your links works - i.e. it works like blog comment.

Right, You should post only relevant article which makes sense.
If you try to post same an article on different sites, it will never help you to increase your traffic or rank.

    Hello,

Through Business Listing, back links are not obtained instantly it grows gradually.20-30 back links in a month is fine and it would not create any spam issue over google.

It is good when you submit articles on article submission websites with 3 to 4 articles in a week alternatively.
Note- Always remember to do postings on High DA,PA websites so that they can provide greater results and provide the exact solution to the quality backlinks and enhance the traffic.

    1. Baclinks from listing is less value than before. 20-30 backlinks is normal, do not worry much.
    2. Post 4 post per month is normal also ( I often use 3-4 guest posting for my sites and clients) . But you need to choose anchor text strategy carefully. You should use less than 10% related keyword phase.

There are thousands of website of CentralIndex. I think if you list your business on only one domain then there is no problem but if you continuously list your business on these same layout sites. Then it may consider as spammy. I also have experience with this same situation.
