Keywords showing up in webmaster stats that are pornographic in nature

I recently loaded a site. I did all the normal site setup, loaded an article and had some auto posting going that I was reviewing before the posts went live but I have just been in my Google Webmaster account having a nose around at the statistics for this account and I clicked on keywords and there are far more keywords than I would have expected and in amongst them are pornographic type keywords.

I have absolutely no idea how these could have happened. I have still to approve some posts that are in review but there shouldn't be any pornographic stuff on this site as it is only 11 days old and I have only just, in the last couple of days, got it up to speed with posts, articles and plugins.

How would I find out where these keywords are being created?

I find this really freaky

Hope someone can help me solve this mystery

Cheers
Viv

Sorry to hear that happened to you Viv. That would concern me too such that if it kept happening I would quit Adsense. Seriously.

Fortunately I think there are things you can do to keep that from happening again. I am a newbie at this but I believe that you can keep ads of a certain type from showing up with a negative list of some kind set through your Adsense account.

Not sure about that but I think I remember hearing something about that.

You might want to email Google too and let them know this is happening. They might be able to give you better input.

Hope you are able to resolve this.

      Hey Carlos

Thanks for your response. I actually don't have any Adsense ads on this site yet, this is just what is showing up in my webmaster stats. I went into my dashboard and clicked on 'keywords' and this is what it says: Below are the most common keywords Google found when crawling your site.

There are 153 keywords in the list. Some of them have definitely come from the auto posts but the others are very typical of what you could expect on a adult site.

I just don't know how this could have happened in just 11 days with the site having no promotion, no ads and virtually no live content until the last couple of days.

It concerns me that maybe the site has been hacked. I don't know where to look though to see if someone has hijacked the site.

      Cheers
      Viv

I've just had a thought...I have a search box loaded on the site, which I don't have on any other site of mine, maybe it has something to do with that. Also the other curious thing is that my statcounter only shows 3 visits to my site since I activated it and two of them is Google!

  • You have adult content sites scraping and linking to you.

      Hi there

      Thanks for telling me that.

It seems really strange though, that they would link to a site that had virtually no content until a couple of days ago, I have had only two visitors to the site one of which is Google so it seems really strange that I would have this happening. Also I have looked to see if I have any incoming links and none show up in my webmaster account or yahoo explore. The only links that my webmaster account is showing are 46 internal links.

Can you give me ideas to find out these sites and do you know if there is a way of blocking them? I certainly don't want to have any adverse affect by these sites being associated with mine.

I am still wondering if this has anything to do with the Google search box I have loaded on the landing page. Your thoughts on that would appreciated.

      Cheers
      Viv
