A keyword I was on the 1st page on it and suddenly I'm on the 8th page!

I have a page that ranks for about 6-10 keywords most of them in the 2nd page and for one keyword it ranks in the 1st page, Yesterday I have put some new content to that page and opened Google Webmasters and then went to the "Crawl" tab from the sidebar and then chose "fetch as Google" and fetched that page for desktop and requested indexing for it
and then I saw that that page dropped from page 1 to page 8 and then got to 7 and then to 9 and then to 7 again..so there seems to be some fluctuations here
I'm really depressed because of this
is there's a reason for this drop? and how can the "fetch as Google" tool affect rankings?

It's either a brand new page and Google was testing it in various places before it settled on where they think it should be or a lot of links that were helping you initially rank have now been determined to be bad, manipulative links and your page has moved down to where it should be without those links that artificially inflated your rankings temporarily.

Also could have been personalized search results.

True - signed into Google one time and not others.

It's not a new page actually that's a category page in a website that has been there ever since day 1
The links to it are all good and there are some from high DA website (I have checked them through Ahrefs)

Could that "Fetch as google" tool have that impact on rankings?

DA is not a ranking factor, and even if it was, it attempts to quantify the strength of a home page, not the strength of the page your link is on.

There are two likely reasons for what you are seeing.

        1) QDF. For some SERPs Google uses what is called the QDF algorithm. This algorithm will artificially inflate the rankings of new webpages for a short period of time. After that, the page goes to where it should have been ranking all along.

        2) Personal search results. The second likely possibility is that you were never ranking that high and were seeing personalized search results. To confirm this take a look at your search traffic from that particular search phrase or at least look at the impressions in Search Console. If you were not seeing any impressions or traffic, then it is likely you were the only one seeing your page ranked that high because of personalized search results.

The quality of content which you updated also matters for ranking of the keywords. Perhaps it may be spamy one and consists of terms that are termed as spam. Check the Page whether it is same page or new page all its links are working or not.
Note It the website is new and there are not enough backlinks then also ranking can be lowered down.

This is Google Dance. Google was trying to identify a correct position for your page and page 8 is what it have for you.

But in-case you would have improved the meta and off-page efforts for the page, it would have stayed somewhere around 2nd or 3rd page. CTR also matters when your page is among the top 10.

Google decided that your page is not relevant to the specific keyword.

Fetch as Google doesn't affect the results unless you made a change recently and it had not figured it out by this time.

If that's the case remove the changes and hopefully, it will go back to the previous position.

Do you rely only on SEO?

Not a good thing. Don't putt all the eggs in one basket.

It's due to algorithm fluctuation maybe.

I suggest you to wait until Google index that webpage again to measure exact search engine position.

Overall, there's been a lot of volatility this month. We normally see 1-2% fluctuations in SEMrush every day. This month it's more like 3-5%. But that wouldn't explain the drop you're describing. I'd run a fresh backlink audit and check Search Console for any manual actions first.

If you recently lost a lot of links, it could be a cause. Then I'd look at the on-page factors to see what changed (including content). With RankBrain being a factor, you need to look closely at that page's bounce rate and make sure your content is on point.

I am also affected by this way. One of my long tail keyword was top on search now it is in 6th position and I am getting less organic traffic. But I also got new upper position for another keyword and it was in second page.

Update: I think It was a flux or something, It's a category page in my website so every time a new content is added to it made its ranking go down, Plus I have checked all the competitors who are on page 1 they haven't updated their pages for months, And to be more accurate one of the pages ranking on page 1 went so down like my page did and it got back to page 1 the next day, When I checked I saw that they did what I did, which is adding new content, So this must have been the cause there

    Thank you all!

It is Sad to know that your web pages rank has decreased exponentially and it causes lot of damage to you. It happens when you try to increase low quality spammy backlinks in warlike campaign and when you continue to create huge low quality backlinks it will be treated as a bad Search Engine Optimization technique by Google. It Means that you are trying to manipulate Google algorithm which is sign of punishment by search engine Giants. Either it should be gradually increase or decrease by less difference but in rare cases it will be kicked out of 10th page it means that you are following manipulating methods, please look back and try to work on organic link building. Do not use plagiarism contents that is also a bad technique.
