Question about SEO Friendly URLs and Retargeting URLs for Redesign

I'm in the process of doing a site redesign & SEO migration. For SEO and Ad Retargeting purposes I'm trying to figure out how to make SEO Friendly URLs as well as Retargeting friendly URLs to track ads on each page of the user journey. For example, Category page ---> subcategory page ---> article page.

Note: the article page can be duplicated on other subcategory pages, so the URL may change (canonical tag will be in place for the original article based on the first taxonomy term). The platform I'm using is Drupal 8.

For example: www.domain.com/category/subcategory(may change based on taxonomy)/title-of-article

How would you track an article page for retargeting purposes when a salesperson asks how many pageviews for ALL pages related to a Category page (including article pages) when the subcategory URL may change?

There is no such thing as an "SEO friendly" URL. Google's algorithm could not care less about your URL.

???? Of course there is such a thing as a SEO friendly URls. Its a well known often used term that came about in response to server side generated dynamic content

previously urls would be created by apps that appended question marks and symbols alone with numbers - now modern design is more seo enhanced by incuding clean urls that actually identify content.

I guess I took the OP's question literally about URLs HE was creating - not ones that are dynamically created by the platform.
