Expired domains for someone new to blogging

New to the Warrior Forum and looking forward to learning from all the knowledge here.
I've made the decision to get into blogging with the hope to eventually monetize the site. I've done the research and think I have the Niche and recently started researching the benefits of expired domains.
Here's what I need help with. I've started researching expireddomains.net for potential options in my niche, however I'm confused on the results. For example: WebsiteA.com will show 1K+ BL's and 50+ DP's. Form there, I go to MOZ research tool and it shows 0 backlinks.
My question:
A: what exactly is DP and BL and why are they different if they're both backlinks
B: why are the results so different from MOZ tool?
