I do seminars, my competition does too, I want to market to the location they are doing their seminar, so if anyone searches if the people they are sitting with a scammers or not well liked in a google search, I want to be the link they find! is there a way to target the specific area of the hotel if I have all the location, dates, and time frames the searches will be performed... ( i know the sales pitch cycle of my comp so I know about when the key word searches would be taking place!)?

You have been a member for 5 years and this is your first post. May I suggest that you rewrite your post and clarify what you want because I read it and am a bit confused as to what you are looking for.

Yes. I am also not able to understand what are you actually trying to say.

He wants to know where to place his ads/fliers at conventions/courses his competitors put up... to get people attending his competitors' events to know he/she exists and offers similar (cheaper? better?) stuff.

Not a good strategy, in my opinion. If you want to piggy-back on someone else's efforts, at an event, you'd be better off finding someone in a related niche and sponsor them...

Even if you don't sponsor, you're better off not dealing with the same type of event thrower.

So, if you're a home inspector, you go to events put up by real estate agents or mortgage brokers or real estate attorneys, not at events put up by other home inspectors.

    Translation:

OP wants to rank for keywords on Google Search results that his competition traffic is searching.

If OPs competition is having a seminar at the Holiday Inn in Dallas TX, OP wants to rank on Google SERPs when the competition traffic is trying to find the details of the competition seminar.

This could actually be a long term SEO strategy assuming the competition has posted their seminar dates/times/locations for an entire year.

If what Yukon says is a correct summary (man, I don't know how you deciphered that), I would think that the top spot in an AdWords text ad that says something like "Don't Attend The [name] Seminar Until You Read This" might be effective. Then link to whatever pitch page you have for why yours is the bigger, better deal.

a little disjointed but not that hard to understand. Yukon and DABK Are right. That seems to be the gist of it and to me its not a bad strategy. Someone looking to go to one seminar might be interested in an alternative. Nothing is quick in SEO though so you need good lead time before the seminars

You want to catch people searching for the speaker's name who are sitting in that hotel on that day. Yeah, you really cannot do that. You can try to rank for their name, but there is not really a way you can limit it to show up for people who are at that hotel searching on that day.

What you really want is geo-fencing. It is a form of paid advertising where you can tag the mobile phone of everyone that walks into that hotel that day and then bid on ads they will see whenever they are using mobile apps that show ads for the next 30 days.

Sounds like you are wanting to do PPC. If someone searches for your competitors and come up with your links instead that could get rather expensive depending on what the bids are.

As far as the targeting goes. FaceBook has some pretty good demographics to use if you get in there and weed them out.

    Good luck

My guess is that the AdWords bids would be super low for a specific competitor's name. Facebook might be good if you target people who like/follow your competitor's page, assuming they have one.

You cannot target people who like a page that you do not own in Facebook. You can target interests, but not pages they follow.

That is technically correct; however, some pages and businesses are listed as interests and while you cannot specifically target their likes or shares, you can target people who have shown an interest in that company/page in any way (not just likes or shares) - https://www.ppchero.com/target-compe...sed-audiences/

There is a company out there, GeoFli, that allows you to geofence and geotarget visitors and changes your website content for them only. I know it can be used to target a specific area, so if they click on your website then they could get content that was specific to them and everyone else would get normal stuff. This could probably work if paired with simply outbidding on AdWords to get them to your site.

I think you can find better use of your resources if you try to step your game up rather than sabotage your competition.
