On Indexing and Deindexing URLs base on URL performance.

Hi all,

As we understand if we index too many urls on our site to Google, example in the millions, this would consume the Google crawl budget.

1) Would there be any penalties to this?

If we only index urls with transactions and good user experience, and deindex urls that do not have significant UX, can we anticipate positive results?

2) If the answer is positive results, what would these positive results be?

Thank you.

Best,

Immanuel

  • Hi Immanuel,
I believe if only the URL's with good UX are indexed and the others deindexed it might help in moving your site up in rankings since you have relevant content with low biunce rate.
  • 1) Having tons of URLs does not disqualify a site or its pages from ranking. It certainly isn't hurting Amazon or Wikipedia.

    2) Google does not rank websites, they rank individual web pages.
