Blog post or static pages for blogging?

Hello!
I am setting up a site for a local tour operator. I am wondering about the blog. Instead of naming the blog "Blog" I thought to name it "Our recommendations/Local's List" or something in that direction. And instead of blog post I was thinking about using static or dynamic pages.
Is this better for SEO or is it better to use blog post?

What is the pro/cons of using static pages vs blog posts when it comes to "blogging"(or posting articles, content frequently)?
What is your view on dynamic pages for the same reason?

For this site we are using Wix website builder.

Thank you for your time!
All the best
Karin

    Hey Karin,

In terms of what to name the blog page, something other than blog works as a title, from a UX perspective the term "blog" does often get searched hence peeps often have the permalink as /blog. With categories / pages making up the Menu.

I'm afraid I'd be unable to say whether pages or posts work better in Wix, I'm more a WordPress man. My gut feeling would be to use pages as their function suggests.

    Hopefully Helpful

    Hi Karin

I'd say that the blog post would be better if you're going to update it frequently and add new articles. If you're not going to update frequently, I'd go with static pages.

It doesn't matter what you call it, it's still a webpage.

IMO, most people don't stay with Wix for very long.

I think it is better to use WordPress if your goal is SEO. That's what I have been using for quite some time now. As for naming it, it's your call. But blog is popular in searches.

If your goal is seo, you'd avoid wordpress like the plague.

If you never change a blog post....well it's static.

I can't fathom why people just can't learn to create web pages.

It's pretty dang easy and you learn a TON OF USEFUL SEO STUFF while doing it!

Of course, it always begs the question,

"What the frick is the OP creating anying online for?"

Blind leading the blind....dance like marionettes swaying to the symphony of destruction.

Hello karin, According to me, the blog post is better because by posting blog consistently, you give Google and other search engines new content to index and you create chances to plug in those all-important keywords to increase your visibility on search engine results pages (SERPS).

Static homepages are becoming more and more popular among creative entrepreneurs. I am still using blogspot platform with my own domain.

If you are talking in terms of blogging, so the blog post is the best option for that. But as you say that you just want an informative static page for the users or visitors, in that situation your choice is right, but we can't call it blogging.

The difference between the blog and static page is-

By using the blog posts, you can update your visitors with the latest trends on daily basis by post a blog post daily. And you can target more visitors.

And the static page you can't update daily. You have to write a static content and have to target all required keywords with the limited content.

But it's also good for the SEO purpose that you have to only target one page for promotions and in the blog post, you have to maintain all pages promotion for getting the visitors.

So there are lots of differences between both of them. Ans both have their own value. You have to choose according to your own requirement.

Go with blog posts. Google digs freshly updated content and favors these sites over blogs with those static pages dominating things. As for the blog word, use it. Clarity deal.

  • This feature allows you to organize pages together. You can even assign specific template changes to certain pages. By default, WordPress comes with a feature that allows you to create custom page templates. In most WordPress themes, posts and pages look the same.
