How to find out popular blog topics that has a big search volume?

Hi Guys
I want to create blog content on my website that ranks but the issue is that I want to find out whether the topic is a popular topic to leverage more SEO traffic.

Can you recommend the strategies or places you go to find this out?

    Big search volume means Big competition and they already know SEO. Be realistic when picking keywords.

    Your best bet is to target featured snippets in Google SERPs. You'll need position #10 or better, preferably at least position #5 to prevent bouncing to page #2 which will remove your featured snippet from page #1.

    So... the goal is at least SERP position #5.

    To answer your question, niche How to... keywords usually have decent traffic. These keywords also usually trigger featured snippets at the top of Google SERPs when your own page HTML source code is setup correctly with schema tags.

    @yukon, thanks for the tips. So not trying to compete for the most popular keywords but just popular topics. I know how to do keyword research but the tools i use such as google keyword planner does not give search volume on topics? Any tips is greatly welcome..

    There are many ways to find out the most popular blog topics using some set of tools like ahrefs, buzzsumo, and especially Google Trends. If you find out what thing is currently on trend then you can write content for your blog. For ex- Now in these days avengers infinity war is going crazy in public you can write content for the topics which have some trend in the market currently. I personally prefer content explorer of ahrefs because I want the topic according to my website category. It helps me a lot in finding out the most popular blog topics that have a big search volume.

    I would start out with a list of keywords that you want to rank for then do a Google search for them. Then ou will find a list of blog posts, if any, that rank the higest for that keywords (keep in mind longtail keywords often return more blog post results).

    Then consider the lenght of said blog posts and their backlink profile and you will have an idea of which are worth targeting.
