I provide SEO services for dental offices. They are blaming me for not being able to convert their leads. I do not know what to tell them when they call with their complaints. Can anyone give suggestions?

What are their complaints about the leads? Are they from out of their area? Are the leads being generated on their own websites or in some other manner?

If you have multiple offices complaining about the same thing, then it is likely a YOU problem and not a problem with anything they are doing.

    • to be fair....about 80%+ of leads on the net are very poor. I have tried to cull it down but where you offer something for free the masses cannot resist.

You need to tweak your capture process. 3 customers is better than 50 tyre kickers.

How are they trying to close the lead?

Generating lead is the SEO consultant part. If there is no conversion, there is something wrong with the product or service.

You are bringing buyers to the supermarket, if they go back empty handed, whome to blame ?

If something in your process is drawing people who aren't the right people, then even Claude Whitacker could barely close them.... Although he is more of a pro than a dental assistant , generally. A guy like that can close someone who wasn't even a real lead. Most dental offices have an assistant as a closer... They don't close anything but " laydowns". So you have to provide a super qualified lead. Not just run of the mill. Basically they need high quality lay downs. They generally aren't super salespeople.

One reason we have started also closing the leads as well for a different price in order to keep the client.

Check Google Console or whatever they're calling it these days to see what keywords the site is ranking for to make sure you're not listing for something irrelevant. Good luck!

I don´t see why they are complaining about because if you are already generating leads for them it means you are doing a good job.
The problem is what strategies they are using to close the lead and what are their offers.
If you like to give them some advice, I would suggest starting to work on their closing sales process. A good tool to convert leads is through sales funnels.

Wrong information. Talk to the client to see precisely what they do not like about the leads. There's a myriad of things that could be wrong with them. Coming in half-cocked blaming their closing skills is not how you keep clients for years at a time. Just saying.

I agree with you. What I tried to say was that if you are providing an SEO service and you are generating leads to your clients, then you are doing something right, the problem is not on the lead generation or traffic, it´s somewhere on the closing. I am not saying to blame clients but to work with them and give them tools to improve that part of the sales process don´t you think?

always start with the customer first, it's obvious the leads are not qualified

so find out the specifics, then move forward

I agree, and I have many satisfied clients. I find that the offices that are not happy do struggle with their follow-up methods and offers. Have you experienced this?

I once had a similar situation and what I did was to ask a friend to play the role of a prospect on the phone.

    The conversation was recorded.

When the boss heard his employee, he immediately understood what was going on. Of course, you can't be harsh with your clients but you can help them realize things about their system.

If you do it naively (Colombo style), they will be happy you did so.

As you're getting leads on your clients site, the traffic you're bringing is targeted. And I think there is no problem in that case.

Probably, the problem persist is from your clients offer. May be the offer your clients are promoting is out of the range of the traffic you're getting.

I would better suggest you to analyze the traffic you're getting for your clients. See the keywords if they matches with your clients offers. Check the age range of the traffic also.

If you're targeting specific locations traffic. I would highly recommend you to use Google 3-Pack SEO for your clients sites.

    Best of Luck!

True. The issue is in the definition. The consultant's definition does not take precedence over the owner's definition. Generating a lot of leads that are not leads for the particular office is the same as not generating leads.

I bought leads from SEO consultants... We agreed on the keywords and they produced adds, and we rated the leads. The idea was that they would make changes so we get more of the ones we rated Good and fewer of the ones we rated Poor.

They did not make adjustments. They kept saying they sent us 70 leads a month... The first month, we agreed, as we had not rated enough for them to adjust. Month 2, we said they sent 12.

One of the ways they failed: some keywords were general enough to fit 3 products companies like ours usually offer; except we only offered 2.

Another way they failed: they got us the right people who were looking for the exact product we wanted to sell, but these people were located too far... They would just not travel... One of the things we said, 5 miles... They said their other clients have clients that travel 10 and even 15 miles... Which is true, in some case, just not most of the time.

You've never been to a supermarket and not bought anything though other people were buying? There are people who'd bring you to the supermarket by telling you caviar's 50% off when, in fact, the caviar's not on sale.

Or the leads are good leads for other dentists, not for these dentists. It has been known to happen.

Sounds like you are doing your job and it may be on their end. You are bringing in the leads and the lack of conversion is because the lead decides not to opt in their product or service. That is their problem because they should be able to close in the lead.

It doesn't matter OP is bringing in leads. If they're not buying, they're useless to the dentist office.

I'm not saying it's OPs fault, could be the dentist sucks at closing. Could be OP targeting the wrong keywords. Hard to help without the details.

What did you promise on the front end? Any guarantees?

If so, and if they are not converting, simply work your way through the system. Where did something go wrong? Or simply apologize and let them go. Tough to see a solution as I do not know your services well, nor the client's needs and any guarantees. You can always apologize and move on though. Firing a customer helps you get over the fear of receiving a bad review, a biggie for consultants who want to genuinely scale.

As long as you are able to generate targeted leads, your responsibility is over. Converting the leads is their job. But be ready to answer, if they question the quality of your leads.
