Google effects on http to https

Hello Guys,
I've new website. It was running on http://www.yourdomain.com but one week ago I redirect it ssl now it is https://www.yourdomain.com
SSL is running successfully but there is huge decrement in google rankings.
It is almost crashed.
Can anybody help me, what should I do now.

  • Yes, Actually Google treat url with https and http as different urls and so the backlinks get divided and get decrement in the backlinks. So make sure that all the backlinks get redirected to url with https .
  • I don't think so migrating from HTTP TO HTTPS will decreasing in ranking. This is a complete myth. As you know all search engine supports encryption technology having SSL CErtificate and HTTPS enabled on your website would have better chance to get higher ranking in search engine. The higher ranking means your website will get more visibility in search engine.

  • Give it time. Last year I made the switch from HTTP to HTTPS myself. My search rankings tanked but slowly recovered over the course of a few months. In fact, they bounced back higher.

    At first I was completely discouraged and stopped making content because I thought I broke my site and it would be pointless, but one day I checked the search console on a whim and was surprised to see I was getting even more search traffic than I was when I initially made the switch.

    • I'm glad to hear it! I'm going through a similar thing now, after moving my site to a new domain (both https) and seeing ranking tank the first 10 days.
  • If you did not setup 301 redirects when you switched to HTTPS, you will not just magically recover your rankings and traffic. You need to set up the proper redirect rules in the .htaccess file. Otherwise, as far as Google is concerned, you have 2 identical websites on the same domain right now. One with links pointing at it and one that is brand new.

  • You should not redirect http to https. Edit your .htaccess or web.config file.

    Submit new pages to Google WITH https (i can't stress that enough)

      You absolutely SHOULD 301 redirect HTTP to HTTPS if you have installed an SSL certificate. Not setting up a redirect would be absolutely stupid and can cause all kinds of SEO problems.

      It doesn't even make sense.

      First he says don't redirect, then he says edit the .htaccess file.

      What are you going to edit in the .htaccess file other than make 301 redirects?
  • Decrement in Google's ranking of your website is only due to backlinks because I think 90% of the backlinks targeted with a http:// so Google decrease your rankings because your backlinks are divided in two versions. Now all you need to target new version https:// and wait some time for come back with ranking. You can also see the image which clarify you for what I am saying:
