Need help with seo prospect

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to offline marketing and I have a prospect that I met with that needs help with his marketing. I figured if I take action I could come and get help when I was stuck. Here's the story:

It's a Dr. and the current marketing company is only doing PPC. He has a wordpress site but no blog. They have 5 landing pgs and 1 site that they send traffic to from the PPC advertising. The business is averaging 2 leads a day and they are not happy with the results from the current company.

This is what I was thinking to recommend:

1.Have the Dr. write articles and submit to directories.
2. Set up blog to provide valuable info and content
3.Post in forums w/signature links
4.Set up social media accounts to brand the business
5.Video marketing
6.Press Release
7.Ping the site

Here's where I need help:

1.What to put in the proposal so I'm not giving him something that he can take to his current company and they implement my plan.

2.How long do you tell clients it takes to start seeing results with SEO (I know it takes time) 30...60...90 days?

3.Do you offer any guarantees?

4. I will outsource the work but not sure about rates because I know seo varies.

5. What would you start with 1st to yield the fastest results?

I was thinking since all his online marketing is PPC, to decrease the amount of PPC each month and increase the above mentioned steps giving the seo time to work.

For ex: Monthly PPC budget is $3k.

Month 1 -I would take a $1k to implement a couple seo steps and decrease PPC by $1K
Month 2 rinse and repeat
Month 3 rinse and repeat
By month 3 marketing would be all seo

Any advice or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Bennette

  • Bennette,

ThreatLevelOrange has made some exceptionally good points.

Speaking from my own experience I'd suggest you help this doctor for a minimal fee and use this project (assuming the good Doctor accepts your proposal) to learn the business of providing Internet Marketing consulting.

You can't just rattle off a few points and be concerned about preventing him from taking your suggestions to his current consultant. That's the wrong focus.

If you build the relationship with him, so that he trusts your advice and intentions, he won't take his business (or your ideas) anywhere.

But he may well do so if he doesn't believe you have his best interests at heart.

    My suggestion:

Charge the doctor a minimal fee and focus on winning his confidence. Demonstrate that you truly know what you're on about and can provide better value than his current consultant/advisor can.

Work WITH the doctor, treat it as a partnership, learn and understand his business and provide the best advice you can.

Later, when people like the doctor are singing your praises and business is flooding through the door - that's when you can start worrying about people taking your ideas to competitors.

    Cheers,

    Martin.

Thanks for your advice and input. My intentions is to find someone that is experienced with seo. I never said I wanted to do it myself because that is not my specialty. My goal is to build a relationship with the client and help them grow their business by having a team of experts around me that can get the job done, and it's a win-win for all involved.

@Martin that's what I was thinking as well. Thanks for your advice.
  • I can do all the things you want ma'am.
    My rate for a part time VA is $40 a week ma'am that's 4 hours a day and 5 day a week.
I still cant send a message but i have added you on skype.
If your interested just accept my request ma'am.
