How to fix anchor text optimization?

Some pages on my blog have been seriously over-optimized around a particular keyword (something like 10 links from external websites containing variations of the keyword).

Can it seriously harm rankings? How can I get around it and fix it so that I don't lose linkjuice from the currently optimized backlinks?

    There is not anything as over optimized. If you have optimized a particular keyword, it will not harm you instead it will benefit you if you build quality backlinks. There is not any need to fix it. Try to optimize other keywords.

  • It would be bad if everything was the other way around and all the beklinks were with the same anchor. Your situation is perfect. Something like this should be with each page of the site - not only one anchor but its different variations.

    • I heard that overusing the same keyword is bad and that you need to vary keyword anchors with naked URLs, different anchors, branded terms and so on.

      I guess I'm going to dilute the anchor text profile by varying as much as possible with comment and profile links. (kinda spammy, but my link profile is rich in guest posts, so I think I'll be safe)

  • I have to agree with MikeFriedman here. 10 links is not enough to even matter. Plus, you say they all have variations of the keyword phrase in them which is ideal (i.e. they are not all exactly the same).

    I have a funny feeling that the bigger concern would be what those 10 links are. Something tells me that they are not stellar, earned links if they all are optimized that well around your keyword phrase. Usually, you only get that kind of optimization by placing the links yourself on another website, but maybe they are all guest posts.

  • Try having your site SEO reviewed, there are loads of websites out there who offer SEO review 'for free'. There you'll find the reds and greens of your website elements. This gives you some ideas as to what to improve.
  • Do any of the idiots around here even read threads anymore or do you just plaster your spam without care?
  • I also don't think, It will be harmful to a website because should have good quality links as internal or external but the link should be quality
