Deleting Sold Listing Pages from a Real Estate Website

Hi. I have a featured listings page that has links to my active real estate listings for sale. I have deleted the links to my sold listings, but they remain active pages. I have done this because I market the page links all over the internet and I don't want to lose site visitors.

My question is, should I move these sold listing pages to the trash, or keep the pages active. Will I be costing myself SEO if I delete?

I create my listings as pages in wordpress, and I know have hundreds of pages because I am keeping old Listing Pages.

Any insight to share? What do you think?

I checked into archiving these pages, but I think I can only archive posts, not pages. Not sure if archiving is the smart thing to do either.

    Overall general concensus is to use re-drirects, but im not a huge fan. What I would do in your situation is change up the page a bit, keeping most of it intact, to attempt and hold its ranking position... but add in " this property has sold, click here to see others." Maybe a banner ad of sort of looking thing at the top and bottom of the page, and remove any of the links from the listing page ( not touching side bars etc ) And change the property image to include a big red " S O L D " across the property.

    I would just change the page, use it to your advantage as you are getting traffic, then add something on the page to lure them to a different page on your site.

    Another question, relating to my question in keeping these pages active. Each one of these pages has many photos(not uncommon to have 50 photos), and videos(just embedded youtube, so not worried about these). Part of the reason for considering deleting is that I am not sure all of these images impact my site speed or anything significant. Should I delete the photos from the page AND delete from the image library?

    Just keeping one photo with a sold sign and encouraging them to check out my other active inventory.

    Do not delete or redirect the old pages.

    Leave the old pages alone.

    Zillow has a bazillion sold pages. Zillow ranks for everything.

    The sold pages also tell potential buyers, "houses get sold here". If you redirect the sold pages, all traffic knows is nothing has ever been sold here (your site).

    Leave it alone.

    As far as I have understood your problem, I think you should change the structure of your WordPress site. Instead of creating a new page for each listing, make static pages for the properties that you are selling and once sold transfer those properties to "Sold" page. And use this page as your testimonials. I will avoid deleting pages on a regular basis.

    Do Not delete the pages. Use them.

    Modify them slightly -- adding the word "SOLD" to description and modifying the main photo with a 'sold' banner. This is social proof for both your site and the listing agent.

    I know of a few very successful realtors who will take out a full page in the local RE mags, and about half of the listings will have banners saying "sold" or "under contract" or "pending".

    The people who buy your premium listings will thank you.

    Hi,

    I think if that pages rank in search engines then you should not delete the links. Instead of you can put new content on that page or just make 301 redirect to take the rank advantage of old link with the newly created link.

    Mark those pages with a sold notice. Don't delete those pages. You can redirect those with some other pages

    When you build and rank a page it's a combination of many things, H1, title, images, etc... Why would you risk losing rank on a page by deleting some pictures? If your hosting doesn't have space and you can't afford to upgrade hosting then delete them, if not then leave them.

    We use to create a 301 redirect to a another related active page, this way we are providing a better user experience (who is going to see an active offer), and we move the SEO benefits to the active page, because that's what we want to rank for
