Well, there are multiple effective on-page and off-page techniques that work. But my personal advice is don't expect too soon. In white hat, it takes time to show the results. Anyway, the best strategy that works that chooses relevant keywords and proper analysis. Mostly Longtail Keywords are easy to rank. You make sure you have quality content on your website because it has strong impacts on your site visibility.
For Off-page you have to focus on backlinks. Try to generate quality backlinks that can also very useful technique to divert organic traffic to your website.
There are multi techniques like
Blog commenting, Guest posting, Forum Posting, Profile listings etc to generate backlinks.

Create helpful content. Yoast it, to get your onsite SEO down. Befriend bloggers in my niche by helping them. Blogging friends link to me and invite me to guest post, boosting offsite SEO. Quite simple but you need to see the process through, being patiently generous.

Do not use Yoast. Avoid it. After what they did a couple of months ago, nobody should be advocating that plugin and nobody should be using it.

My website isn't fully optimized so therfore I have to go in and make a few changes on my home page aboout me page.In addition to that i must strategically use the keywords that I want to rank for on on my website throughout my website . Well, I personally prefer Guest Posting. I think it is the best SEO strategy which drives original maximum traffic. If you guest posting the Authority Website, also high DA, PA & No Spamming Score. If the article around 800 to 2500 characters, original and included useful information for audience. You will found most traffic and your website ranking early. Use white hat seo. Thanks.

I would say it's important to add or enhance the following practices in 2018:

(1) Voice search - Optimization for voice search is becoming a must nowadays. So focus more on long-tail keywords and colloquial/conversational language. Use tools like keyword suggestion tool to find the best selection of keywords.

(2) Local search - pay attention on how you are ranking on the local level and adjust your strategy accordingly.

(3) Work on your user experience as it will affect your rankings.

First thing I do (other than optimizing code) is keyword research. I try to find long-tail keywords with low competition, but a decent amount of monthly searches. I then choose page titles based on this research. I also make URLs reflect these long-tail keywords (example: site.com/long-tale-keyword-here). Then I start link-building. Some directory submission, some guest-posting, blog comments, etc. These methods can still work, but have to be done the right way. For directory submission, I like to find niche directories and directories that allow very long descriptions. As far as blog commenting goes, don't just try to spam your link everywhere. Only make relevant comments on blogs or articles related to your niche. When it comes to profile links, these aren't so useful unless you post on the site regularly, so the link to your profile appears on the site regularly.

It is true that there is not cookie cutter strategy that works for all. You need to check out what are the struggles faced by your website and frame solutions accordingly. Focusing on quality Link building is one of the best things you can do. Guest posting and Forums are one way. What you must keep in mind is do not SPAM.
