How important are the number backlinks to a domain? For example, you often see first page search results from shopping sites like Amazon, Nextag, Bizrate, etc, which have zero backlinks to the page itself but millions to the domain. Would that be easy to beat because of the low backlinks to the page, or impossible because of the astronomical backlinks to the domain?

  • You can have backlinks to every page of your website if your smart and try and gte all your pages ranked.....you'll make a lot more money doing that. I did that with my guitar lesson sites..it worked great !! I have many high ranked pages on google and tons of traffic online to make money online.
  • If the domain carries a high PR then chances of getting one of its pages in the first page of google is high. Amazon, Nextag, Bizrate and loved by google, so they display shopping results instantly, which I believe is not only because they're high PR domains, but also because they're highly trusted sources with great credibility.
