I have a client's website Review Pete ( https://reviewpete.com/) . I'm facing a very frustrating issue when it comes to updating Meta Description.

I have tried;

- SEO Yoast
- Another SEO Plugin
- Fetching as Google
(its a WP based website)

But for most of its pages it's not showing the meta description I have set. In fact, for a lot of pages, it is showing the " Just another Wordpress website" meta description. Can anyone help me out here and point out what can be the possible reason.

An example page:

site:https://reviewpete.com/get-good-reviews-for-business/
https://seositecheckup.com/seo-audit...s-for-business

Whereas the original Meta Description I added is something else and can be seen in the page source code too.

Please help frome expert on page gurus. I'm stumped!!!

In the source code of the page you linked, the description is set as "Just another Wordpress site".

        The Yoast description shows second.

Get rid of one and change the other to what you want it to be.

Good idea to be insulting to someone who answered your question.

And again, what in the world are you doing handling clients when you cannot figure out something basic like this?
So your idea of helping people not insulting them is by calling them dips....

Seriously thats how you help people? You are a disgrace to this briliant forum.

So really, who is the disgrace here?
Well first off, I told in my original question that I have set up the original meta description but for some reason its not showing and I have tried everything possible to not to show the "Just another WordPress website" but the meta description I set.

Secondly, let's assume for a moment that I'm a beginner and don't know the "SEO" "You Know".

Then what's the point of this forum? This forum is visited by millions of people every month to seek help and if there are people like you who think they are "gods of SEO" and know everything and insult people with slang language, then who will come here for help???

I might be destroying one customer's SEO but on the other hand, you who is here to "HELP" so many other people but rather insulting them what message are you sending you to millions of people.

The point of Warrior Forum is to help and answer on what a person is having issue with rather than judging them on their relationship with their clients.

Seriously buddy, grow up and get your head out of beer cans and into HELPING PEOPLE than insulting them.

Honestly, man, I might not be the best at it but not noob enough. I have worked for 100's of clients and have over 5000 hours and 90% success rate on UpWork (if that is a good quali6fication for you .can show you proof too ). And I first learned a lot and still learning before entering into SEO.

But this is the first time I'm very helpless. I have tried everything in the book and even developers have tried to remove it. This is why I asked for help from folks here.

      Infraction reversed.

Come on guys are you for serious? That's how you help people here. The answer received, dipped within sauces of "insult".

Any by the way I didn't get my answer yet. I know the problem and Mike only pointed that out. How to get it removed - there is no answer to that.

It's inside your Wordpress backend. You have to go in there and look around. You probably have too many plugins running and they are conflicting with another or you picked some weird setting in one of them.

Most themes will have a spot on the page or post for the title tag and meta description under the editor somewhere.

Without a login, nobody is going to be able to tell you exactly where it is.

Finally some helping answer- thank you Mike.

Well, there was " All in One SEO Pack" plugin before " SEO Yoast" and it had the same issue. I deactivated and deleted it to add "SEO Yoast" but still its the same issue.

That's why I'm saying I have tried everything but it doesn't seem to go away

But you are right on one thing - there are lot of other plugins added ( non -SEO) but they are mainly related to Woocommerce as the site structure is built in that (I'm not the developer here so please don't start your lecture again

If you can't find it, you need to contact the developer then. It's there somewhere.

Also, word of advice, I would move away from Yoast. After their fiasco earlier this year when they tanked a bunch of sites, I would never use them again.

I'm deleting the rest of my messages in here.

    Hi Anything,

Here's how I would approach the issue.Simply use a process of elimination. If you have a caching app, or CDN service disable before testing.
    1. Disable all plugins and if the erroneous description disappears, re-enable one at a time until you find the plugin that is injecting meta description into your website.
    2. If the description remains after all plugins are disabled then check your theme's customization settings.
    3. After checking every theme setting and nothing found, temporarily switch to a different theme, if it goes away then take a look at your theme's hard coded templates.
    4. If the meta description remains after all those steps then you need to contact and hire a Wordpress coding expert because you may have a malware infection.

Make sure you flush your browser cache during each step else you might be looking at a cached page rather than the what WP is serving.

    HTH,

    Don Burk
