I just got my new niche site indexed after 4 days after doing lots of back linking using Angela's links. I did about 5 articles and submitted to 3 article directories.

What I don't understand is that I often see the googlebot in my traffic stats within hours of putting up the site, but it doesn't appear in the google index for several days after that.

My company blog is well indexed, and if I target a long tail keyword and add tags and all in on SEO etc to the post I can be in the listings in less than an hour sometimes. Trust etc counts massively for Google success.

I am happy for indexing within 4 days for new blogs. For established blogs I think 24-48 hours is good to say.

Easily 24 hours on wordpress domains. Ping, rss and social bookmark. You should be on google in no time!
