I had the same issue but what I did,

I just update the code on right location and it starts working again. So you should also do correction and do paste the code on right place to fix the issue.

If it's placed in the right spot it will be tracked.

There might be different reasons such as duplicate GA code on your page that might appear as the result of using different plugins, or just any mistake in GA code. Check if there is the one and only correct GA code on your website.

A major cause of this is making changes to the Tracking Code position. Which you admittedly did. Now, since you're saying that you've placed it back. You need to wait it out.
Until then make sure these 3 probable issues are ruled out:
    1. No multiple versions of Google Analytics plugins are running at the same time
    2. make sure all the GA plugins (if multiple) have the same GA ID
    3. Google Analytics Tracking Code might be present at multiple locations

    Hope it helps!

You should place GA code at head tag on page of your website. Then it will track your website. Apart from it you should recheck GA code while pasting.

Along with me, many one has experienced with this kind of problem....
It may be due to multiple versions Google Analytics running or may be you have mentioned the tracking code at multiple location...

  • Google Analytics is the most popular tool you can use to measure those visitors. You shouldn't use a tool because it is popular, though. Google's tremendous cloud infrastructure allows them to rip through very large data sets rather quickly. They want to use data to make informed business decisions.

Google Analytics and explain several basic concepts about the tool, including:

What is Google Analytics and why is it mission-critical for your business?
    How does Google Analytics work?
What are the distinctions between metrics and dimensions on Google Analytics?
What kind of data are available on Google Analytics, and what you can do with them?

There is just only one reason. Your GA code is missing something. So again post it on right place.

you don't have to use any plugin for google analytics.you should directly create code and paste code in your website.
