Should I use any more AdSense on my main index page? I.e. (DansCartoons.com) and maybe a small link unit on the bottom?

IMHO you have enough ads on the site. Might consider moving the bottom banner unit under the first image - just above the category menu.

Ok, I`ll just speak my mind here.

No, you really shouldn`t, you should focus on getting some air into that text "fog" on top of your page.. Maybe even lose some of it.. lol.. Not flaming you here, it`s just a friendly advice. Get rid of some of that text, maybe add a "What we do" or "Who are we" kinda link instead, and then people can click it and THEN read what you`re all about. To make it short: I`m one of the no-good-for-nothing morons that click my way out of your site if it doesn`t look good. I wouldn`t stick around on that site for even 5 seconds if it wasn`t for the picture beneath the text/fog.

You sell pictures, right? I`m having a hard time figuring out what you`re site is all about. That`s something you should point out on top of your page, or else people just leave.

And last, but not least: if your main purpose is to sell images, why even bother to put in Adsense ads that might send someone of to one of your competitors? On a site like yours the visitor should get 2 choices: buy or go back.

The images are great! Had me laughing, I`ll tell you that much, and that`s something you should use to make people stick around. They might not buy anything, but maybe they tell their friends about this really funny site they found the other day.

A button that says "Gallery" should be to the right, almost at the top..

Man, what I would do to that site if I didn`t have to think about SEO..

I would stick with less ads but in more strategically prominent places. More ads doesn't necessarily mean that you will get more clicks. Sometimes the contrary is the case. Generally I would go for an ad block placed in the top-fold of the page, preferably just below the headline of your article, followed by your text/article. In many instances I would even consider that enough AdSense. Might be worth experimenting:

You could run your site for one week with only one ad block at the top fold. Then one week with top block and sidebar ads, etc. and see which one gets you more clicks... It's just that often "less is more" in this game :-)

Thanks to all....and I appreciate IN DEPTH critiques. Truth be told, I've done alot of experimenting on that page and haven't noticed one way or the other. I've had large rectangles, on left, 728X90 banner directly across top, skyscraper on just left side and then only on right side....like now. I have ads on about 40 inside pages also....to experiment on all of them would take YEARS and much patience, dallying and keeping records to see what does what and what performs best. My main train of thought is:

      ABOVE THE FOLD

      LARGE RECTANGLE

LESS IS BEST (only one ad) and have them above the fold

There is no guarantee you will make huge money on this adsense thing.....you see alot of computer generated "fake" screenshots, and then see manipulated "Photoshopped" stats and then people who say they actually make four or five hundred per day....but that is mostly a huge fallacy. I do know one guy making just over $100 per day....but this takes him upwards of 50 DIFFERENT URLs running, all at once and it gets to be a daunting task....and this guy has emailed me personally since he's in the same discipline as myself and has shown screen shots of his daily earnings. But it takes alot of work to maintain all those sites and even then, makes only $100 or sometimes a bit more per day.

And other well known sites probably don't earn what they say they do...it's basically "talk" to generate an interest in pushing a so-called product. The one you hear alot of is Shoe Money, but you can bet it's basically talk....ads there don't make all that much and he makes his living off paid ads bought by others there. In fact his tools are very expensive I think. So to say that adsense serves him well is only a small portion. In essence, I think adsense is a great way to make a few extra nickles to help pay ffor your ISP monthly bill.

I certainly have appreciated the thoughts here on ad placement though. I think I've pretty much verified what works best as mentioned in bold above.
